Injuries Update

Post by CanesSkins26 »

Zorn said that RB Clinton Portis, ailing from a knee injury and various other bumps and bruises, is feeling better coming out of this game than he was entering last week, coming off the bye.

Washington has a high-ankle sprain, and will be out several weeks.

Back-up tailback Ladell Betts aggravated his knee injury in the game, but "not so much that we think it's going to keep him out" of Sunday's game, Zorn said.

Corner Shawn Springs, who was out again with a calf injury, is expected to play in Seattle, barring a setback.

Defensive tackle Anthony Montgomery remains "50-50" for Sunday's game, still trying to overcome an Achilles' injury

I'll believe that Springs is going to play when I see him on the field.

Maybe Springs finally is going to get on the field now because he knows Hall is gonna take his job.....

I don't know if it was coicidence, but our run defense was horrible last week. Was it Montgomery or just chance?

In the postgame talk, Blache said they played 7 men in the box, and basically dared the Cowboys to run the ball. Our run defense wasn't great last week because the team specifically concentrated on playing the pass.

Did they put 8 in the box on the last drive?

Just dumb if the didn't, even the cheerleaders knew they were going to Barber.
I firmly believe the Patriots are the antichrist.

It was a few things...

- We were missing Ant and Marcus.
- We were thin due to having to defend the pass.
- The defense was tired and couldn't attack much for fear of the score getting out of hand.

That's a good strategy when your line can stop the run, and your DEs can get contain on the outside rushes.

Well, we mostly shut down T.O. AND Roy Williams.

That has to say something.

If we don't shut those two down, it could have easily been a blow out.

Yeah they did, but Blache said by then they had lost momentum or some other blathering coach speak. Basically, I think they were worn out by then.

Listen, yes they gave up 112 yards rushing (or whatever it was) to Barber. But the defense gave up 14 points. Giving up 14 points a game is enough to win. IF the offense actually did anything.

If a team gives up 14 points a game for the year, that's 224 for the season. That's the exact amount our 1991 Redskins (one of the best teams of all-time) gave up for that year (and 14 points per game was the best in Skins history, tied with the '74 Skins).

You win if your defense gives up 14 points. Unless your offense is awful.

Marcus hasn't gotten it done this year, so I don't even consider that a major loss. He's been inured for the majority of the past two seasons.

I don't think we needed to have so many back vs the pass. When the run kicks your butt, you don't need to pass. Isn't that how WE win?

Last note : GO BIG OR GO HOME... and we went home.

Who do you leave on single coverage on TO? Or Roy? Who covers Witten on their own? Do you give them the score quick or slowly?

What does it matter when they scored or how long it took when we can't score when we have the ball? Maybe we should have dared them to pass because the ONLY way we're going to get TD's is if Hall or the Predator runs a pick-six.
