I know there are some soccer fans here, so I wanted to mention this game.
In World Cup qualifying Tuesday night, the Soca Warriors of T&T stunned the US 2-1 in Port of Spain.
T&T got second half goals from 40 year old Russell Latapy and 37 year old "All Night" Dwight Yorke for their first victory ever over the US in WC qualifying. In an interesting note, both T&T goal scorers were on the T&T team that was beaten by the US in 1989 with a berth in the 1990 World Cup on the line.
T&T now moves into second place in the group thanks to Cuba's upset of Guatemala, and will advance to the CONCACAF final qualifying group with a victory over Cuba on 11/19.
My father is a native of Trinidad, and I've always followed this team. I support the US in every other international competition, but when it comes to soccer the Soca Warriors are #1. T&T, with a population of just under 1.5 million, is the ultimate underdog in major international soccer and is now one step closer to a second consecutive World Cup appearance.
Go Soca Warriors! Beat Cuba!

Yes, that isn't going to be an issue. Looking at the lineup from yesterday I see that we gave some of our bench players a chance. . .
Yes, the US is in first place in their half of the group and have already clinched a spot in the final round of qualifying.
The US did have some younger players out there last night, but that takes nothing away from T&T's historic victory.
After all, the Soca Warriors were without some of their better talent as well. For example, Kenwyne Jones (from Sunderland in the EPL), one of the better young strikers in the world, is rehabbing a knee injury and was unavailable.
This was a quality win over a quality opponent.

Congrats to them. I'm sure there was some big parties going on last night.
You're right about that....

I would've given anything to have been in downtown Port of Spain last night with a bottle of rum or three.....

At least for the next round. There is a fourth round among the six winners of Round 3 though. Only 3 teams from the region will make it. Check here.
Daniel Snyder has defined incompetence, failure and greed to true Washington Redskins fans for over a decade and a half. Stay away from football operations !!!

Oh, certainly I don't want to take anything away from them. Keep in mind: I'm a fan of USA soccer, so I know what it's like to be an underdog!
