Whatever Happened to .... Pat Fischer

He was there when the safety blitz was created and he perfected the bump and run as a result. Then he helped the "Over the Hill Gang" get into Super Bowl VII

I saw some video of him, and gotta admit, here's a guy who had talent to make up for his size. He made some spectacular stops just by hitting the recievers at just the right moment.

He'd get under them and pop 'em in the ribs just as the ball got there.

Amazing stuff.

Especailly when he would go up against Harry Carmichael from the Eagles. He was like 6-5 and it should have been a big mismatch, but ol' Pat would just lay the hammer down on him. It was almost comical. like Jerry chasing Tom, well, unless you were Carmichael.
RIP 21

The Fischer-Charmichael wars are among my most cherished memories. Fischer was fearless. I'm sure we have all seen video of him taking on Larry Czonka, running at full speed, head on... and getting destroyed for his effort. He was 175 pounds if he was an ounce.
