Are they the only team that doesn't have the "21" on the back of their helmet? From what I've seen they are. Even the Broncos have "21" and then a logo with the numbers of their two players who recenctly died.

I can't say how much this pisses me off. I'd rather have the Cowboys win the Super Bowl than New England. F' em.

Hold on there pardner, you're getting a mite carried away for 2 reasons.

1) Clearly the Boys deserve credit for giving ST props for the season and the Pats don't. But the Pats are in a different conference and frankly a lot of shineola happens. And what's the point of paying respects to someone if it's becoming a lynching for anyone who doesn't follow the dictated protocol? That frankly would trivialize the ST memory since no one would be honoring him of respect but of fear for being chastised, or at least you couldn't trust they were. It would therefore by definition take away due credit to the Boys who since many other teams aren't are paying their props to ST. I think we're having too much of this respect by decree in this country across too many subjects and I think we should just thank the Cowboys and leave the Pats alone. So thank you Dallas Cowboys for your proper respect to the memory of our hero, Sean Taylor.

I did notice one of their d-linemen wearing the #21 patch in addition to the #91 patch in the game against the Giants.

The patch is optional, and I'm thankful to those who wear it. Thanks for the support.

I'm thinking that if the roles were reversed, the Redskins would/should prioritize a rememberance of one of their own over someone else's.

So it's OK for NE to do likewise.

Hey guys the Patriots lost a player of there own this season.

Plus Vince WIlfork played with ST at Miami. He was also a close friend to ST. I hate the Patriots but them not wearing 21 anymore does not bother me.

They wore it once and that is enough for me. Other teams choose to wear it more often the SKins are in the playoffs and honoring him. That is what makes me most happy.

I surely thought we would miss the playoffs this year but hey look at us now. Woooo!

A couple teams stopped wearing the 21. I've noticed the Cardinals have stopped but Kurt Warner, Antrel Rolle, and Edgerrin James all still wear the 21

Check out this excerpt from a UniWatch article over at ESPN's Page 2. It discusses the Sean Taylor patch, as well as other memorial tributes:

The NFL, notoriously rigid about enforcing leaguewide uniform standards, has been surprisingly flexible about one uni-related element this season: The Sean Taylor memorial "21" decal, which all teams wore in Week 13, was made optional for the rest of the season. So some teams have been wearing it and others haven't. And then there are the Giants, who removed the decal for Week 14 but restored it the following week -- except for offensive lineman Grey Ruegamer, who was Pat Tillman's teammate at Arizona State and doesn't think anyone should be getting a more extended memorial tribute than Tillman got.

The NFL's atypically laissez-faire approach here is no doubt partially due to all the negative publicity surrounding the Pat Tillman situation in 2004 (as you may recall, all teams paid tribute to Tillman by wearing a "40" decal for Week 3, but Broncos QB Jake Plummer wanted to keep wearing it and was threatened with a $30,000 fine if he didn't desist). But it's also a measure of the increasing role of uni-borne memorial gestures. Mourning graphics used to be fairly rare and were usually limited to a black armband, but that's all changed. Nowadays, as soon as the assistant coach's third cousin's mother-in-law dies, everyone immediately starts speculating about whether the team will wear some sort of memorial and what it will look like (well, everyone who reads Uni Watch).
