Who's the worse GM?
I'd have to say Thomas, not only did he pick bad players, he picked a bad coach & he threw them out of practice yesterday! That's how you get a bad team to get better, don't practice! LOL

Matt Millen is worse than the people on that list but Thomas is a close second, not only do the Knicks have a roster of sub-par players who don't really fit together, he is carrying so much salary that he has crippled the organization's ability to right the ship for the next few seasons. If I remember correctly, he's mortgaged next year's draft too.

Matt Millen is worse, but Detroit is improved this year.
I may be wrong, but I think we still have next years picks (so far). They lost the most recent & the year before for the Eddie Curry deal, but I don't this years was part of that or anything else.

I don't think Cerrato actually makes any decisions of any importance. At least I've never seen any concrete evidence to suggest that Cerrato does anything of note.
I have to agree with the above post. Matt Millen has to be the absolute worst general manager in any American sport.
As far as Thomas goes, he can't even keep his own nose clean so I have a hard time believing he has any control over the Knicks. Didn't Stepin' Fetchit leave the team recently because he was asked to come off the bench? And then come back only to come off the bench?

OK, I'm sure you're right about that, I knew they had traded away some picks (and let's take a moment to laugh at the idea of wanting Eddie Curry that badly ...

Absolutely NO TEAM in the history of sports has THROWN OUT THE WINDOW more money than the Washington Redskins for one failure after another ever since the Danny and his cousin Vinny stole the Team. Not even close. Not even the LA Clippers.
I would exchange Vinny for Isaiah Thomas. At least we would all know that Isaiah does not know or does not pretend to know football.

Daniel Snyder has defined incompetence, failure and greed to true Washington Redskins fans for over a decade and a half. Stay away from football operations !!!
I suppose it's worth pointing out that Vinny is not the GM and we have NO idea to what extent he influences player decisions since Gibbs' arrival. Additionally, RIC, your assertion about the Redskins rank in the history of sports is simply not supportable. Everyone knows you hate Vinny and Snyder, that's been made perfectly clear. You needn't engage in baseless hyperbole to make that point.

Speaking as a Michigan native as well as Pistons and Isiah Thomas fan, the guy was the heart and soul of the team that won back to back titles. Joe Dumars was awesome too, but the little guy was the only real star on the team, yet he left it on the floor every night and gave his all for the team.
So for those dissing him as GM I have to say.....um, you're right. He really blows as a GM. Fios is right too that Millen is worse. But frankly not a lot. They are both really, really bad.

Vinny has acted in that position prior to the arrival of Joe. I do know that the Skins have been a failure throughout his stay with us. We do know that his stay has been useless. Show me a larger waste of money in the NFL. The Skins were for quite some time the MOST EXPENSIVE sports franchise. They are second after the Pukes now. What other team has wasted more money?Fios wrote:I suppose it's worth pointing out that Vinny is not the GM and we have NO idea to what extent he influences player decisions since Gibbs' arrival. Yes, I cannot stand Vinny and Danny. It is not free of charge. They have worked hard to earn it. It is true that the Skins matter to me a bit more than the LA Clippers or the NY Kinks

1. George Preston Marshall, who used to draft from a college football magazine.
Scouting? We don't need no stinkin' scouting. Anybody remember Mike Somers, HB from George Washington?
GPM, who ignored Maryland's great coach, Jim Tatum, and picked Don Bosseler rather than Jim Brown. Tatum, after Maryland played Syracuse: Jim Brown is the greatest football player I have ever seen.
GPM, who insisted that the Redskins should be an all-white team, the flagship of segregation, while the Colts were winning championships.
2. Otto Graham, who had a genius for the passing game, but who didn't like the OL, runners, or defense. Who traded a first round pick for Gary Beban. (Who? another "ya gotta look him up" guy)

Not sure if he's been mentioned yet, but Michael Jordan, anyone? He drafted Kwame Brown first and then ruined the poor kid's confidence. Not to mention, he rubbed Rip Hamilton and just about everybody in a Wizards jersey the wrong way. Just thinking of candidates.

John Ferguson Jr - Toronto Maple Leafs - few GMs have managed to cripple a franchise as successfully as junior has.
He not only negotiates contracts that hurt you now, he manages to ink deals that can paralyze the team for a decade. What a joke.
When you can not only wallow in mediocrity in the biggest of markets (sound familiar Skins fans?), but create scenarios whereby the guy that TAKES OVER FOR YOU can't do much about it either... you're seriously incapable.

It was a close one between Thomas and Cerrato, but I had to go with Thomas. Mainly because Thomas is the main trigger puller with the Knicks, whereas Cerrato is just on cog in a machine of ineffective screw-ups.
Also, the Skins made the playoffs this year and a couple of years ago. I do not think I can say the same about the Knicks this year.

Historically Millen has been the worst but overall the talent is there on the offensive side and i agree with the firing of Mike Martz. They have decent underutilized running backs and maybe now with a new OC they can be more balanced. Millen has improved. Isiah on the other hand is horrible. I mean dishing out that much money for proven underachievers and getting sexual harrasment charges and being a bad coach on top of it- any other man would of been fired. I dont know why Thomas has the golden pass.

Atleast Vinny has character unlike Isiah who can't stay out of trouble. The Knicks are in worse shape right now then the Redskins.
