Skins' at Bucs...

Post by creekchub00 »

This week is a big game for both, a win for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers brings us to 7 and 4 and at least a 2 game lead on EVERYONE in the NFC South with 5 games to go, including 3 games against division opponents.
A win this weekend for the Skins is a must, along with the Giants and Lions both losing, and things are suddenly looking WAY up for you team.
Good luck, no injuries, as the Bucs have had thier fair share as of late.
Have your fans had a chance to watch Earnest Graham, if so, what are your thoughts? Real deal? I know he is a grinder, but does he have a future with the Buccaneers or the NFL for the matter?

BTW, I am the admin of http://thecaptainsdeck.net a member of the f2fa.com alliance, be sure to check us out this week as your prepare for the game. A member of my board also does a 1 hour long radio show online at http://whatthebuc.net it is live tonight and Thursday at 7pm. They would welcome phone calls from fans of the opposing teams I am sure. Tonights show will be mostly Bucs @ Falcons discussion but Thursday will be all Redskins @ Buccaneers!

To be honest, I'm just glad you guys don't have Allstott anymore. Do you guys still have more QB's than we have WR's? Allstott always used to kill us.

And seriously, why does it seem like whenever we play you guys it's ALWAYS in Tampa? I'd love to see the stat on that actually...when was the last time we hosted you guys here in DC? How many games have we played and how many were in Tampa?

You'll forgive me if I don't wish your team good luck, because we need all the luck when can get!

Here's to a good game though...

Tampa's an organization I've always respected. LOL@How many qbs they got these days. I remember at one point they had like 5 or 6 and I was like dag, can't we get one of them up here? (just for kicks and giggles) Alstott use to destroy us, he was a beast indeed. I've seen Graham play, I actually have him on one of my fantasy teams. That guy there is the real damn deal. I mean, he's really no joke. Our dline has got to pull it together because all this guy needs is an inch. I think he's like 220lbs? and not very tall so he has that sneaky guy kind of thing going for him. What makes him extremely dangerous is his special teams abilities. This guy makes hard tackles and he can definitely get good yardage. As I now think about it, I believe both our special teams mirror each other. This will be a great matchup if we play as hard as we did against the cowpunks!

These are two very evenly matched teams, I was digging through some stats today to try find out if Tampa is overrated and I found nothing to convince me of that.

don't forget about arizona. we need them to lose as well. theyre in the wild card race with us, and have by far the easiest remaining schedule.
There are only two teams I root for in the NFL. The Skins, and whoever is playing Dallas.

It's okay that we drafted a Landry. After this season, the crygirls will have a new association with that name.

lol... I know TB has a game on the skins and homefield, but I kinda view this one as a "pick'em"
Cowboys 7- Redskins 6 (All we needed was 2 minutes of the 60)
Cowboys 17 - Redskins 0 (Way to NOT show up for the 100th anniversary)

division opponents? Who? I thought all others had taken a break this season. You see .... NOBODY takes a break in the NFC East -EVER-. Tougher division but that is the way we like it.

Welcome to the THN board creekchub00. I look forward to exchange views about the game. It will be a tough game, as always.

I hate that for the last 73 years we've had at least one road game in Tampa.

Man I have no idea what to expect from this Tampa game. Just looking at their schedule/record the only "good" team that they've beaten was a squeaker over Tennessee. Otherwise they've gotten to beat up on the weak NFC south.

Then again, what good team have the Redskins beaten this season? At least Tampa beats the teams they're supposed to. And Garcia is playing nearly perfect QB this season.

Right!, and he woulda been perfect if it wasn't for that game he had like 4 picks/fumbles or something like dat? I don't really know for certain but I "think" I remember seeing that on highlights one week. Point is the guy's good, his momentum from playing in Philly carried over wit the Bucs. I just hope we can beat them!!!

:feedback; Hey, did anyone find out the numbers regarding how many games have been here vs. away?

I've got 15 unofficial meetings; 9 in Tampa, 6 in Washington (or whatever). The Redskins are 5-1 at home, 3-6 away, 1-1 in the playoffs (both at Tampa). Since 2000, it's been equal, with three games at home for each.

I got all this from pro football reference. Nifty site.

Yep, you're right Joe. Not sure about the fumbles, but he's had 3 INTs this year and I think they all came in one game against Jax.

It is actually 16 games, 8 in Tampa 6 in Washington...then two Post Season games in Tampa.
The series has been an even split (7-7 Regular Season) (1-1 PostSeason)

Since 1996 there have been 9 games including the playoffs, and it has been W-L-W-L etc...
If the pattern stays true, Washington walks away with the win

The Bucs belive they'll smash us

Post by por-tiz2skins »

Alot of these bucs are to cocky, they belive a blow out to the ATL is for sure now that there D is back top 3 against the horrible OL from that team. Will if they fell that way than look at us our whole D look superbowl D against the lions awful OL and our D is ranked 13th now.

Any way I think will end up on top of these guys, yes its Garcia but Garcia hasn't played the best D out there yet.Our D is not the best but it will for sure keep these Bucs O down to only 14 points while our much better O will score 28.

I agree. However, it was a very difficult read. Allow me to repost this with the needed corrections. I can't help it. I am a school teacher. This is what he said:

Alot of thes Bucs are too cocky. They believe that a blow out to the Falcons proves that their D is back to the top 3 because of their perfomance against the horrible OL from that team. Well, if the feel that way, then look at us. Our whole D looked like a Super Bowl D against the Lions, awful OL, and our D is ranked 13th now.

Thanks for the translation. I only speak fluently three languages, and with some difficulty other three, and with notes I can read a speech in other two. But this time my eyes could not make sense of the etymological roots of the post. Thanks, merci, gracias and so on and so on.

As one poster said a few days ago: the Skins can win or loose all of the remaining games on schedule.

This team has become son inconsistent that you really never know what to expect or what team will show up. Talk about a gambler´s worst nightmare.

I wouldn´t be surprise if Tampa sucker-punches us into submission after the great fight we gave last week.

At this yuncture the 5-5 record says it all. We are THAT incosistent.

That is correct. Partially because our pass defense is very solid, partially because, when we have been beaten, the running game of the opposition is what has killed us (see Bucs 23rd rated d against the RUSH). Heres to hoping you guys do something stupid like the Cardinals and ignore that weakness, opting to throw the ball all day instead! :P

Sadly, I think that will not be the case. This one will rest on our offense's ability to sustain long drives and keep our defense fresh. I was much more worried about this game when Taylor was healthy as your secondary seems suspect (albeit anecdotally as I have not been able to watch much tape, only ESPN and Playbook).

At any rate, I look forward to a good game!

That pattern held true in 05 when the Skins scored more points than the Bucs in the game, yet still lost. (Mike Alstot's 2 point convertion was six inched short of the goal line and that was a play after the Skins blocked the extra point, but the refs incorrectly called them offsides) And the trend continued in the playoffs when Brunell threw for an NFL record low, 41 yards, for a playoff winning QB!

Tampa isn't over-rated, but several times this year we have been.
Mostly we are disrespected and unfortunately, we deserve it. Don't for one second think that we will beat Tampa tomorrow. It is not a given.
And yes unfortunetly, I think we might not be up to the task. I know we are capable, bot not much this season has made me a believer again.
