Time for the Coaches to step up.

With essentially no running game on the right hand side and almost none on the left and the obvious decline of Moss, we're running on close to empty, with only ey offering an offensive weapon of note. On top of that, we've got two dinged linebackers, a lost cb, a dinged cb, and a dinged cb in waiting. as well as a DE that looks vulnerable. Landry and Fletcher had to make all the tackles last week. We are reduced to little areas of competence.

It's not easy to see how we we're going to finish 8-8 let alone make the playoffs. If we make the playoffs, we'll likely be crushed.

If the year finishes on a positive note, I'll take my hat off to the coaches. It will be because they've fashioned a new offense built on the arm of Campbell and coaching ingenuity and managed to suck every ounce of talent from characters like Brandon Lloyd and Fabrini and made new discoveries. What's clear to me is that we can't finish even 500 without the most risky of endeavors-- a mid-season retooling.

When you wake up you'll realize Joe Gibbs, Al Saunders, Gregg Williams, Joe Bugel, Don Breaux, Jack Burns, Rennie Simmons, Earnest Byner, Stan Hixon, Bill Lazor, Greg Blache, Kirk Olivadotti, Jerry Gray, Steve Jackson, Danny Smith, Bob Saunders, Bill Khayat, Arthur Smith, John Hastings, Bobby Crumpler, and Harrison Bernstein are too old to be out there with today's players. We better stick you who we have out there and hope they show up.

honestly, i see the same thing everytime as well. lets shock the league with our up the middle 2 yd gain, up the middle 1 yard gain, pass intended for (insert any name here), 4th down time for frost to punt.

have we done anything creative this year i.e. flea flicker? im not sure, or how about a HB toss like last year. lets maybe do something we havent done before to show that at least we are capable of doing something out of the norm, maybe something not so predictable. how many times have you seen us at the 5 yd line and look! there it is again, a roll out to chris cooley. wow, even brunell did that.

Gibbs is cutting back on the playbook, going "back" to run first and putting in more physical practices , as if we could afford more injuries. According to the writer, he is planning to leave a bigger Gibbs footstep on the offense, will not use Betts more, and is insisting the running game can be improved-- never mind the lack of talent on the right. Bugel's even making "our way or the highway" noises.

Apparently, the running game can fail Sunday after Sunday and still remain holy, but the passing game's to be junked after any sign of failure. An NFL team today cannot play with such a philosophy. It is nonsense. It defies belief that after four years of abysmal failure and only a few games of success such a view can be held by rational men.

Please don't tell me the passing game has been given a real shot here. I just had an operation and the stitches hurt when I laugh. That we used Brunell essentially says it all.

It doesn't work because the players never bought into it and Joe Gibbs never backed him up on implementing it and giving him full control of the offense. Al's offense is proven but it won't work if you have players that prefer "Redskins Football" and you have a HC meddling in the plays.

If Al leaves or is fired, he won't be unemployed for long unless he opts to be.....

I disagree that Moss has declined. With the lack of opportunities and teams keying on him, Moss' production is down. He had one bad game against GB but how many times have we seen Moss catch a deep ball on the run or a slant and make a play with it this year? Let's not confuse a lack of opportunities with someone declining. Other teams with Moss-like receivers are finding ways to get them the ball but because we can't, folks assume a guy is on the decline. Like I said in another thread, Steve Smith is basically Moss' twin in size, height, and speed. But yet, Carolina has had three different QBs throw balls to him. He's the star on that team and teams try to stop but Carolina continues going to him. He's getting plenty of opportunities whereas Moss isn't.....

I understand your feeling but I remember when Sonny was QB and on 3rd down with 5 yrs to go everybody in the stadium knew the pass would be to Smith - they made it work.

I think Lloyd and ey ought to get about ten balls each tomorrow and Sellers should get about ten carries. That way, Portis has a chance of having a good day.
