Sellers as a runner?

Post by crazyhorse1 »

I thought using Sellers as a runner was a great move and I hope to see even more of it. The guy looked like a bull to me, as he has in the past. Let the defense worry about him as well as our RB's and passing game. Ultimately, I think we won on Sunday because we wore down Miami's defense. It's hard to imagine a better way to wear a man down than have Sellers run into him a few times.

While watching the Giants/Pukes game I saw how abusive Brandon Jacobs is to a defense. You could just see how much pain and effort it took just to get the guy to stop moving forward.

We need to put Sellers in the backfield at times. I think it'd be a good thing to do just to keep defenses guessing.

We also need to get him into open space more often, he needs to be able to get some steam going to be truly effective.

Sellers has to be the most underrated FB in football.. he was destroying people yesterday with his blocking and when he got the ball he runs so hard and is so big that all you can do is put your body in front on him and hope it slows him down so that someone else can get him down

He should be our short yards guy. It take four of them to tackle him and if he can get into the secondary........he will always jus run right over a DB with ease.

With a head of steam up, he'll carry people 4 yards just falling down...

I loved the few carries Sellers got - tackling that beast abused the defense, and it's going to help keep defenses guessing in the future. Before, he was just the blocking back, but if there's actually a threat he'll get the hand-off, it really opens up the opportunity for some 2-back misdirection plays.

Don't you get the sense that Saunders is still feeling out the players and what they are capable of on game day? With Sellers' success, I hope to see him more often in this role to really keep defenses guessing.

Absolutely, he seems to be figuring out what works and who works best in certain scenarios

I actually remembering seeing Sellers split wide once yesterday. And he did carry about 3 or 4 defenders (including Jason Taylor) on the one pass pass play!!! Now thats gangsta!!!

Agreed.

I love seeing our underrated talents get used to the best of their abilities. It was a real wise move to have him in the backfield. The man's a beast.

True, there was a play in the 1st Q where he absolutly destroyed Z. Thomas trying to fill the hole behind Kendall & Samules. He actually kncked Zack into another defender comming off the edge. Just great stuff.

i loved how the Aggro Crag had 3 defenders on him and he was still up. Zach Thomas had to come and put a freakin haymaker on him to bring him down.

Mike Sellers for President!!!

I agree we should run him more...I liked the quick handoff up the gut.

Also pass more to him like we did two years ago.

If you really wanna see how lethal he can be on an entire drive just type his name in Youtube and watch that one! Classic!

I don't care how big your Defense is....if you pound them with a FB over and over again....they eventually break.

Glad to hear Brandon Jacobs went down

He's a great short yardage back. But you have to say also that Betts and CP do a good job also. If the Oline do their job, 3rd and 3 will be no problem anymore with Sellers blowing the holes wide open.
