Teams get down to 53 players

Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

Post by 1niksder »

Let's try to keep all Players cut listed in one thread

STEELERS CUTS
Chukky Okobi entered training camp as the Steelers' starting center, but he was among the players who failed to make the final 53-man roster today.

Running back Verron Haynes was also cut, as were three of this year's draft picks, fourth-round defensive end Ryan McBean, fifth-round guard Cameron Stephenson and seventh-round wide receiver Dallas Baker.

The other cuts: defensive end Shaun Nua, special teams standout Chidi Iwuoma, fullback John Kuhn, quarterback Bryan Randall, receivers Walter Young and Gerran Walker; tight ends Cody Boyd and Jon Dekker, tackles Jason Capizzi and Brandon Torrey; nose tackle Scott Paxson, linebackers Ron Stanley and Marquis Cooper; cornerbacks Anthony Madison and Jovon Johnson; and safeties Grant Mason and Mike Lorello.

The Vikings' previous cuts included RB Ciatrick Fason and WR Billy McMullen.

The 49ers also waived the following players: safety Darnell Bing, linebacker Colby Bockwoldt, running back Thomas Clayton, tackle Harvey Dahl, tackle Damane Duckett, wide receiver Bryan Gilmore, tight end Zac Herold, tight end Zachery Hilton, fullback Zak Keasey, defensive end Sam Rayburn, safety Vickiel Vaughn, linebacker Mark Washington, and tackle Tavares Washington.

BENGALS CUT

Bengals linebacker Edgerton Hartwell is among the players who were released today to get down to the 53-man roster limit

BEARS CUTS

The Bears waived 18 players Saturday, including backup defensive tackle Antonio Garay, who had been expected to provide depth on the defensive line and Chris Leak, the quarterback for national champion Florida last season..

Second-round pick Dan Bazuin, a defensive end out of Central Michigan, was put on injured reserve with a knee problem.

Also waived were running back Josh Allen; wide receiver David Ball; defensive end Copeland Bryan; defensive tackle Tory Collins; safety Tyler Everett; defensive back Greg Fassitt; defensive end Chris Frome; wide receiver Drisan James; tackle Mark LeVoir; tight end Fonel Mines; defensive back Tim Mixon; guard Anthony Oakland; tight end Brett Pierce; guard Tyler Reed; safety Andrew Shanle; and linebacker Danny Verdun Wheeler.

Tackle Steven Vieira was waived/injured and runnin g back Quadtrine Hill joined Bazuin on injured reserve.

Surprised Garay was let go. David Ball at WR looked pretty useful and made a great showboat one-handed catch the other night (albeit juuuust outside the endzone). QB Chris Leak looked fairly impressive in limited action too. The rest? bah!
