Seating

Post by Hoggie »

Guys i have just received my game tickets for the skins cowboys game in December. The seats are for section 223 row 16 seats 13,14. This will be my first time watching the skins play at home as i say over the pond. (Scotland to be precise) Have any of you guys been in this section? i new when i bought the ticks there would be obstructions but not sure how bad. Any info on the seats would be greatly appreciated

Cheers

Here's a diagram so you can see where the seats are - http://redskins.com/tickets/stadium.jsp#

They're in the lower bowl, so that's good. It's hard to tell with the obstructed seats though. I've seen some that really aren't as bad as you would think, and I've seen some where you can hardly see the field at all. That game is going to be packed, so I doubt you'll be able to find empty seats to move to (like you can do in preseason games sometimes). Either way, just being at the game will be exciting enough!

Here's the view from your seats. Doesn't look like much obstruction to me!

JH - is that literally from those seats? How do you find a picture like that?

Before you get too excited, you should note that the photo above probably comes from a ticket website 'seat preview' photo. If it says that you bought seats with an 'obstructed' view, I'd expect that they will be obstructed in some way. I have heard of seats that really aren't too bad, and I've seen photos that looked nightmarish. . .but unfortunately I can't help you out with those exact seats.

As far up as your seats are, you MIGHT catch an overhang on a kick off, but if I recall correctly, you won't have any other obstruction. I had row 22 or 23 before and it was worse, but those aren't that bad.

Unless JH was actually IN the stadium today, or Hoggie mentioned this to him prior to Saturday night, I doubt JH actually walked to the seats and took that pic himself...

or did you, JH?

[edit] Nevermind. After looking at the picture again, I'm pretty positive that I can tell you for sure that that is not a picture of Hoggie's seats. Just look at the pic - those seats are pretty much right on the 30 yd. line. If you look at the seating diagram, section 226 is in the back corner of the endzone, not the 30 yd. line.

Hate to dissapoint you Hoggie, but if your tix say "obstructed view," and the picture posted by JH "claims" to be from your seats, I'd be willing to bet that the picture was posted to actually fool people into thinking that their seats are amazingly better than they actually are.

A ton of people on ebay do this - sell tickets to "obstructed view" seats, and post a picture that does not actually represent the real seats. I hope your seats turn out ok, but like I said earlier - just being there will be exciting in it's own right!

How much? Will they take a credit card? Please hurry... I'm off to examine my new property on a private island just off Jamaica. There's a nice man from Liberia... a prince or something... who is going to help me pay for it, just as soon as I send him my bank numbers... I'd like to be cured of my gullibility before I get there, so the people that run the taxi's can't take advantage of me. Did you know that they overcharge, sometimes??? Unbelieveable!

BTW, BH... the link doesn't work...

The obstructed view seats come into view at about row 12 in the 200 sections. You are 4 rows deep so you will more than likely have the overhang to contend with your viewing. You might be able to see ok if you don't have any concrete pillars in your way. Seeing punts or deep passes is probably out of the question though.

Actually, that photo came from Redskins.com. You look at the stadium section and go to the "interactive stadium seating" area and click on the section you want.

Note those are only pictures from the general area. They aren't an accurate representation of the view from all seats in that section There may be seats there with a great view and there may be some with half the field blocked by a giant pillar.

I heard a story of someone who couldn't visit the stadium themselves hiring a bike courier to go to the stadium, sit in the seat, and tell them what it was like.

An interesting project would be a thread/page/site documenting good and bad seats in the obstructed/limited view sections with pics and reviews by fans.

That's fine, but I think the same principle applies. Does Redskins.com let you pick "obstructed view seating" for the preview? :)
