Report: Vick indicted in dog fighting case

Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

Report: Vick indicted in dog fighting case

Post by jeremyroyce »

FOXSports.com, Updated 3 minutes ago

Michael Vick has been indicted for his role in an alleged dog-fighting operation that authorities say took place at a house owned by Vick, multiple media outlets reported Tuesday.

On April 25, a search of the house owned by the Atlanta Falcons quarterback and inhabited by his cousin, Davon Boddie, uncovered drug paraphernalia and 66 dogs in the backyard. A search warrant affidavit said some of the dogs were in individual kennels and about 30 were tethered with "heavy logging-type chains" buried in the ground.
The chains allowed the dogs to get close to each other, but not to have contact, one of myriad findings on the property that suggested a dogfighting operation.

Others included a rape stand, used to hold non-receptive dogs in place for mating; an electric treadmill modified to be used by dogs; a "pry bar" used to open the clamped-down mouths of dogs; and a bloodied piece of carpeting the authorities believe was used in dog fights. Carpeting gives dogs traction in a plywood fighting pit.

Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.

this puts roger goodell in a tough situation.. because he's trying to improve the image of the league and has been doing a good job. but should he suspend vick even tho this is his first time getting in trouble with the law? i mean that was the reason for pacman and chris henry. they had multiple run-ins with the cops. i personally think he should because if he doesnt, even tho it may not be the case, it'll seem like he plays favorites on the big marquee stars of the league.

Not unexpected at all, is it?

Vick can not win this one either in the court of law or the court of public opinion.

Have a look here:

NFL star indicted over dog fighting

and

http://i.a.cnn.net/cnn/2007/images/07/1 ... .17.07.pdf

In the absence of other maerial, this indictment will keep the media ALL OVER him until and beyond Training Camp.

Another brilliant career wasted due to BAD JUDGMENT.
Daniel Snyder has defined incompetence, failure and greed to true Washington Redskins fans for over a decade and a half. Stay away from football operations !!!

As I stated in another post - IF Vick lied to Goodell when they met recently and IF this indictment shows that he did then I hope that Vick gets a suspension - IF the case against him is proven then I hope he will not be able to get a job in the NFL. Vick allegedly has been involved with this for a number of years

Get with it people or find another job.
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

I used to like Mike Vick. Now that I have seen all these allegations go down. I must say I do not like him anymore. I am an owner of two pitbulls and one little mut. I also have two cats.

If I seen someone doggfighting I seriously would whop they a!!, I do not condone any of this foolish type of entertainment.

From the indictment:
"In or about April of 2007, Peace, Phillips and Vick executed approximately eight dogs that did not perform well in 'testing' sessions at 1915 Moonlight Road by various methods, including hanging, drowning and slamming at least one dog's body to the ground."

This one paragraph is the motor which will drive public opinion.
The actions of a sadistic and bloodthirsty mind. These were his animals. They trusted him completely. Imagine the terror of these dogs. Even a lowlife "sport" such as dog fighting has an underclass of scum... is Vick a member of that underclass? It's not looking good.

Such demonstrations of a lack of conscience are just a precursor to other forms of brutality. There is a direct relationship between such cruelty towards animals, and towards people. A man who could do this is a man with no soul, driven by narcisism. He wouldn't value a human life any differently than he would these dogs.

I'm sure his momma is proud of both her boys.

I hope Vick enjoys the next few months in his mansion. My guess is that he'll be in prison for about 2/3rds of a year pretty soon. . .

your post said it all...allegedly...the nfl needs to quit punishing people for allegedly doing things...is he guilty, probably, until he is found guilty the nfl should not be vigilante's....look at how david stern handled the kobe bryant case, that should serve as a model for all commissioners

Don't forget electrocution.

Be PROUD fans about your favorite player Clinton Portis ENJOYING and MOST LIKELY taking part of this.

Portis deserves any bad thing that happens to him.

It disgusts me that good men like Arkansas's RB coach Danny nutt have to retire with a recurrance of brain stem bleeding yet men like Clinton Portis are multi-millionaires who whine that people are angry at his comments.

A guy on ESPN said it best, "He would have been better off beating someone up outside of a night club."

EDIT:

If Clinton Portis and Chris Samuels find it so hilarious, maybe they should experience it themselves. I wonder if Chris Samuels is still on a trip in Hawaii to another un-deserved Pro Bowl.

I don't think you can call it ridiculous. He has an opinion as do you, but calling his ridiculous isn't the best way to handle it. I'm sure you would get upset at some calling an opinion of yours ridiculous if you say something about which you feel very passionately about. This whole topic strikes a sore point in a lot of people.

I may be wrong FIOS and I'm not looking for an arguement but I thought he said he would deserve it, not that he wished harm on the guy. I took it as he was leaving it in the hands of karma. He's just venting. We all have done it, but to attack a guy's opinion is hypcirtical because we all have feelings about things that I'm sure others find silly.

If you've ever sqaushed an insect before I"m going to need you to STHU. What you did was cruel and that animal didn't deserve to die. Animals have been here long before humans and we're invading their space and for us to kill them is disgusting.

I hope all of you that use insecticides die.

I hope all of you that eat foot that was treated with insecticides die.

I hope that anyone here who has killed a bug dies.

See how stupid that sounds?

Personally, I've never eaten foot, to the best of my knowledge. But I have had some Chinese take-out I wasn't sure about.
