Perennial Underachievers - Washington Redskins?

Post by rick301 »

I like seeing articles like this ... go ahead and underestimate the skins ... they play much better when that way!

The schedule-makers have provided head coach Cam Cameron and the Dolphins a good opportunity to get off to a fast start. They open the season on the road against perennial underachievers the Washington Redskins , who were 3-5 at home last season and struggled to put up points under offensive coordinator Al Saunders. If the Dolphins' defense can play well, Miami's offense should be able to control the clock and run the ball effectively against the Redskins' mediocre D-line.

Sounds like a valid write up. I'm sure they'd be saying the same things if the shoe was on the other foot.

This is what upsets me about some of these so called "sports writers".... the fact that they make statements based on last year with out looking to what the teams have done in the off-season to improve themselves.

To think that the Dolphins have done more than the Skins to improve their squad, and as such, have the game in the bag is absollutely rediculous.

I guess we'll have to "lay-the-wood" to the league early this year to show them we're all about

how many times has a team hired a new coach and then the media thinks they are the next saints or the next patriots.. they always over rate them and its getting old.. the dolphins have an old washed up QB in Green and Ronnie Brown hasnt lived up to his potential yet and they only have 1 receiver worth covering.. they'll be lucky to score against us i think

This writer has not seen the Redskins play at all this year. This guy is dumb and should be fired for writing such a stupid article.

Well, I haven't seen the Redskins play at all this year, either...

I saw them play last year and until I see them play, I only have our history to base my expectations on.

And 2000.
And 2001.
And 2002.
And 2003.
And 2004.

Once or twice = flukey, injury-riddled season, etc.

I would think the Dolphins might be a little upset with the writer. Training camp hasn't started and the Skin's already have bulletin board material.

Eh, I think that's pretty vanilla, it's not as if that came from within the Miami organization.

Stating facts, IMO.

Fact is, we don't know how our team will end up this year; and all the writer's saying is that, based on past experiences, he believes the Fins have a good shot at the Skins in the opener.

I'd love to see him proved wrong -- but his comment does not seem very inflammatory to me.

It's not, he says that we're consistent underachievers....that is true. We have oodles of talent and we don't know show up. What he said is actually pretty decent. He didn't say we sucked but that we're not living up to our ability and if we do...then watch out.

It is absolutely no secret that EVERYBODY will test our DL in more ways than the run. Let us pray that it can close the holes, rush the passer and hold together without significant injuries throughout the season. [-o<

Last year was, something like the first opening game loss in 5 years for the Skins! I wouldn't want to face the Skins in game 1, now game 3, they almost never win!

If he is basing his assumptions on the past, then he shouldn't want any part of the Skins opening day!

I like our chances in Week One and this only provides us with motivation. Kudos to the ignorant writer. Apparently he wasn't watching us upset Dallas and New Orleans last year with a MASH unit. Cam Cameron? Give me a break. He will be a big dropoff from Nick Saban who had Miami back on track.
