new 'voluntary' work outs

Post by everydayAskinsday »

whats everyone think of Gibbs letting the guys truly decide whether or not they workout in ashburn or on there own? im kind of curious what it might do to team chemistry which has been a problem with the revolving door atmosphere here... i hope it works .. i know the guys from the U will get it done down in Miami though .. all hurricanes seem to do a good job of conditioning themselves during the off season

I"m just glad that we're trying to get to the root of the problem here. Whatever it may be.

I honestly think it will improve chemistry because it shows the management trusts the players to train on their own; consequently, those players may trust management more later on. Happy players will more likely bond together.

...well time will tell if these guys have the focus and maturity to undergo the conditioning on their owh.

Gibbs tried having them show up early to camp; and players complained. So let's give this a try and see what results we get on this track.

Seems like the only bonding in mandatory workouts was negative. Guys bonding together complaining about the workouts.

The NFL season has to be grueling for players and coaches alike. Its hard to blame players for wanting the spring away from the team.

As long as they kick their butts during a LONG HOT training camp instead of it being like a GD weekend spa vacation, I'm fine with however they spend their off-season. Need to toughen those (insert slang term for female body part here) up a bit.

I'm telling my boss I'm taking the Spring off, when it's time to go back to work I'll ease into it by working on my own computer at home... that way when I get back with my work mates I'll have nice fresh chemistry... either that or we'll have to relearn who does what all over again, and it'll take us a while to be productive... give me a break...

It's not that big of a deal, it's not like we're the only team that does this. The time isn't lost since we're starting camp earlier. It all balances out.

I had a similar thought......but would like to add that these guys don't make enough money to expect them to work more than 8 months out of the year.

The NFL is different than other sports. These guys aren't guaranteed all of their money.

So if they want voluntary workouts then that's fine. Because in the end, if some of them choose not to put in the work, they'll pay for it in the end. They wanted rules that were less strict, and they got them. Let's see what happens.

I think it is good....most teams do it, and with all of the U of Miami players we have, it should be a nice atmosphere for them to workout.

Only thing is Campbell will be in D.C. and our starting receivers probably won't be. But we have time to get their timing down, besides we are built to be a run first team anyway.

SUPPOSEDLY many of the WR's have stated that they will be with JC on their own time to working on timing. Hopefully that will be true. According to another article JC will get some time in with the guys in April.

The only WR to not be mention is Lloyd but that doesn't mean squat but that it hasn't been reported.

I really don't think its that big of a deal either way, but guys probably wanna go to their hometowns and catch up with friends and family. As long as the guys don't start getting into trouble and show up ready to win it won't matter and we'll look stupid for even talking about this (which is what I'm hoping for)
