If we had 5th & 6th, 2 DL or DL & S

Post by West Coast Hog »

Just for the sake of arguement, if we did trade Bailey to Detroit, and we had the 5th and 6th pick, what would be the better way to go. Getting T Harris and Udeze, or one of those guys and Sean Taylor (S). On one hand I say if Bailey goes we'll need the secondary. But on the other hand, the possibility of having a Sapp/Rice combo for years to come is pretty sweet. After all, a strong defensive pass rush makes any secondary good.

If we had 5 and 6 I would definitely take Taylor with one of the picks, and then Udeze with the other.

Another thing i'd try to do is trade #6 for a lower 1st round pick and a 2nd rounder, draft CBs Chris Gamble or Will Poole in the late 1st and with the 2nd, draft LSU DT Chad Lavalais.

But, again, I want Bailey here in DC and get a DL with the #5.

Sorry - Udeze and Starks from MD... monster in the middle without the weight problems...

I understood that Harris was only 280 and got swallowed whole at times cause he was too small... we don't need that..

If we got the 6th pick I'd try and trade for N.E. 2 1st with the 6th. N.E. wants a top RB the Skin's could take Taylor at 5 and Starks at 21 and DeAngelo Hall with 32.

If we get the 5th and 6th picks, I too am in favor of trading down, because signing two top six picks could be very tough. Depending on if we have addressed our D-line needs in FA, or if we have acquired a back to carry the load, I would try to get Stephen Jackson at some point, and a d-lineman at the other...

On this, I agree - I can see them trading both to be honest with ya - if we could get both N.E. picks with the #5 and another with the #6 as well as picking up a couple more later in the draft it would help us plug a lot of holes.

I just don't know that NE is willing to pay 2 for 1 on first rounders - though they have cap problems...

If we trade down one of our picks, I don't think it will be that far. Probably get a 1st and 2nd and get to like 12-16. Otherwise we're in danger of missing one of the 3 really good defensive linemen. Harris, Udeze, Starks.

True - I see maybe one being traded down to 10th, maybe the other to 15th or so.

Still - if we do that we pick up 3-4 picks...and that is big for us, once again with 3 picks in the draft

I think if we want Taylor, we will have to use our 5th pick on him. But with Detroit's 6th (if and when) we can trade down a bit.

My opinion is that we get monsters on the line and the safeties can take care of their pass defense responsibilities... Ohalete and Bowen did ok having to have their heads on a swivel to see if a RB got through our porous line.

I don't think we need a new, high priced safety right now. Just my opinion
