Could we afford it?

Post by JPFair »

Could we afford this scenario? I doubt it, but in pre salary cap days, this would be a dream scenario.

Trade Champ for a 1st round pick.

Trade P-Ram for a 1st round pick.

Use the 5th pick in the 1st round.

THREE picks in the first round? WOW!!!
Sit back and watch the Redskins.

SOMETHING MAGICAL IS ABOUT TO BEGIN!

Probably could. After all the cuts we'll make - Smith, Candidate etc.

Here's a thought for you - if we trade out Ramsey and Bailey for 1st rounders, and Indy franchise tag Manning, we could offer him a contract. It'll cost a 1st round this year and next year, but with 3 picks as above we're not really losing anything. Danny Boys always been good about offering minimum salaries with big bonuses, so may not be too far-fetched.

easytiger... Peyton Manning isn't going anywhere. Bill Polian is going to get him locked up in blue for life. And trading two of our future foundation players for prospects would be rediculous...

yea, i'm sure no matter what kind of contract he got offered to leave, the colts would match it, no questions, no matter who gets cut to make it happen.

What teams would do these deals and who would we pick??
BTW we'd get more than one pick for Champ. At least we should. At 5 take Udeze maybe. Trade Champ to DET for 6 and take Tommie Harris or Steven Jackson, maybe Sean Taylor. Ramsey to Miami and take Will Smith if we took Jackson, maybe Sean Taylor drops to 20. Or, Chris Gamble or Will Poole to replace Champ.bv
