Free Agency, Is it ok to cheat?

Talk about the Washington Football Team here. Do you bleed burgundy and gold?

If the Redskins were breaking the rules to pre-sign free agents, would you condone it?

Free Agency, Is it ok to cheat?

Post by Redskin_fan »

Since all the other free agency "stuff" on this board is hypothetical right now, I thought I would poll the Redskins' fans on a little ethics. If the Redskins were breaking the rules to pre-sign free agents, would you condone it?

Most teams are reported to have signed a free ot two at the onset of free agency every year. How do you sign a contract at 12:01 if rules haven't already been broken?

Of course I voted no.

I like the rule because it brings some sense of timely order. But this rule is like the speed limit on highways, nobody sticks to it all of the time. Just ask JansenFan.

It's not cheating unless you get caught, so no, they shouldn't get caught, I mean cheat.

This is obviously a very gray area, but I'd prefer my team follow the rules. Winning via cheating isn't winning.

If you are caught, you would argue that you were there -inadvertently-. You might find yourself over the speed limit if your tires are new and the instruments were not calibrated properly, etc, etc etc. You might get bye with a stern warning.

I voted just win because finding loop holes in the rules is not cheating. I am sure Justice Hog can relate to that :P . Yes, Joe Gibbs is always looking for everyway to work around the rules without actually breaking them.

The idea that ANY teams abide by that rule is just ludicrous.

If you find a loop hole in the rule, then you simply find a way to honor that rule to your best advantage without breaking it; therefore, you are correct - it is not cheating.

I like the question previously posed - Can a team talk to the player's agent before free agency begins (and not the player directly) or would that also be a violation?
