Yes, folks, I'm a big Jets fan this weekend!!!!

Why?

At the beginning of the NFL season, my local bar, Stewarts Brewing Company had a suicide/eliminator contest.

Each participant had to pick a team to win that given week. If their team lost, they earned 0 points. If their team won, they earned a designated # of points for that week. You can't pick the same team twice throughout the year.

First place is $768.00. Second place is $200.00.

If there is a tie for 1st place, both will get around $480.00.

Well, going into week 17 I am tied for first place.

My final pick of the year?

You guessed it.

NEW YORK JETS OVER THE OAKLAND RAIDERS

So, in addition to rooting for the Redskins on Saturday night, I'll be rooting for the Jets on Sunday!

Good luck JH - what team did the person who is tied with you pick this week.

This sounds like an interesting format - as the reigning champ you might want to chair a similar contest on THN next season :twisted:

I have no idea what team that person is going to pick. Guess I'll find out next week.

Well, I stopped by the bar tonight and found out I wasn't tied for first place any more. I've actually got first place tied up all by myself! So, if the Jets win, I'll win $768.00!!!

Had a blast yesterday! My first experience tailgatin' in the purple lot and it was basically a big block party.
