Does Sean Taylor Go too hard?

Sean Taylor is a beast and dont get me wrong, he's my favorite player on the skins by far. i was thinking though, he goes all out every single game and throws his body around like a sack of potatoes at ball carriers, but that's not good right? cuz he could end up messing up his body and having to have a really short career, like Bo Jackson was a beast and he never ran away from a defender he hit em head on, result=4 year career

what do you think?

I think he's our most talented player for sure and the most talented safety in the NFL.

But he is way, way out of control and it can hurt the team at times. He needs to learn how to pull it back and use his head. He has the potential to be the best safety in the NFL but he needs to understand how to play football. You can't just go all out on every single play.

Ronnie Lott played balls out also. I mean, the guy cut off part of his own finger to get back into a game.

He had a pretty decent career (sarcasm).

I guess going hard can get you NFC Defensive Player of the week. I think he is a beast, and just goes all out because he knows no other way...I would take him over just about every other safety in the league...Id rather have a guy who gets beat trying to make a play, than a guy getting beat cause he can't make the play.

Ironically, it was a sideline run and angular tackle that brought about the end to Bo's career. I don't think Sean would want to play any other way. Go all out for as long as you can.

I wouldn't hold him back. I remember Gregg Williams saying in a presser a few weeks ago, when he was asked a similar question, that he doesn't want to slow him down at all. They can coach him up on the mental aspects, but physically, they want him to go all out. I agree with this philosophy.

There is no question that Sean Taylor plays all out. But, I think the referees are more inclined to call a penalty on Taylor. I noticed in last weeks game that Taylor had a personal foul called for hitting (actuallty pushing) a Panther in the back while blocking. I also noted that a few plays later, a Panther player did exactly the same thing and was not penalized.

That was a bad calll. It's unfortunate, but i think the refs have labeled him as a dirty player. I dont know if it's because they see him lay bone-breaking hits on the ball carrier and instantly assume he has a violent doesnt-play-by-the-rules demeanor or what, but that call was stupid.

I really think that you have less of a tendency to hurt yourself when you play all out than when you play with hesitancy. I played Soccer and Lacrosse. When I played I was like a human wrecking ball. I never got hurt. It wasn't until college when I played Rugby and Ultimate Frisby that I had my first serious sports injuries. Those occured because I was new to those games and less sure about what I was doing. So I was hesitant.

Sean could get hurt just as easily when he's going 50% as he could when he's going 100%.

My point was that sometimes he can be detrimental to the team by being over-aggressive. He needs to know when to pull it back and think before he reacts.

I think the spitting incident really hurt him with the refs.
