COMPANY NEWS; CAMPBELL SOUP TO SELL ITS FRESH START BAKERIES UNIT Print Save
The Campbell Soup Company said yesterday that it planned to sell its bakery products division, Fresh Start Bakeries. Campbell, based in Camden, N.J., the maker of canned, frozen and refrigerated food items, said the sale was part of its plan to divest itself of its nonstrategic businesses and focus on making soup and sauces, biscuits and confectionery. Since September 1996, the company has shed six businesses, spun off its frozen-food and condiment business and acquired soup companies in Germany and France.
