Gibbs on Hot Seat?
The Newark Star Ledger is postulating that if the Skins miss the playoffs that the Danny will fire Gibbs.

Toughts? I do not think that the Danny would ever fire his hero. Altough, maybe he should fire Gibbs the President and retain Gibbs the coach.

Yeah, Joe Gibbs has a free pass for life.
Still, maybe he would like to step into the Team President role.
Personally, I have believed the problem with Washington has been, for many years, the lack of a general manager. It's jus so crucial IMO to have that position filled.

You and I both. I it pissed me off before and I stopped harping about it, and its pissing me off again. Their record thus far can't be any better than 50/50 and thats not going to cut it. If we could steal Baltimore front office we'd be great.

gibbs will not get fired and that article is crap but with the talent this team has 2-4 is not what the doctor ordered.
its not just ONE thing thats whats killing me ....the entire team is not responding.
defense all year long has played awful (tackling) coverage.
offense this 700 page playbook is a work in progress and 695 pages seem to be screen plays
with things heading in the direction they are heading how many more loses until gibbs writes the season off and puts in another QB hell at this point put collins in.
the pentilties are just uncalled for also way too many.](./images/smilies/eusa_wall.gif)

I'm still wondering how in the ...... you get a delay of game, at home? On the road it makes a little more sense because of the crowds, but at home? As for the article, we have about the same chance of Brunell not starting next week that we do he'll be fired.

Why would the Danny never fire Gibbs, let me count the ways.
#1, he's a marketer. The fans are filling the seats, he's making money hand over fist. That's what his detractors miss. BTW, it took Steinbrenner and Jones time to figure out how to win titles too.
#2, if he fires Gibbs, how are the Skins NOT the Danny's own fault? He couldn't win with holdover Norv, Marty who went on to do well in SD, golden boy Spurrier or now Hall of Famer Gibbs and he FIRES Gibbs? Not a chance, he goes with Joe for the ride.
#3, even if he could, firing Gibbs would be stupid. We have Bugel as a mid level coach and 2 head coaches leading O and D. Even if Gibbs can't win before he goes, what a perfect time for the Danny to watch and learn from the best. Danny will be here a long time, why choke the golden goose? He's smart enough to take advantage of that.
The article is wishfull thinking.

I agree. Unless a miracle happens, I don't see Gibbs here next year.
HaiL,
Hail to the REDSKINS, Hail VICTORY.
gibbs wont walk, he definatly wont get fired, even discussing this is a smack in the face of the guy who brought us 3 superbowls.
when he does stop coaching he will be a part of the organization in another faculty.
he is almost a GM right now, what he does.. he creates a team around him and allows them to do the work, he got two damned good coaches and created an environment that can win. when he steps aside and into another position(one with a tie) and they take a form of their own, a personality of their own the true value of what he has done here will show and we will be superbowl bound.
i like many was too excited about this season. When we have a year under the new offensive system and a new QB we will be a team to be reaconed with.

HaiL,
Gibbs is not a quitter. He will be here next year! Now, Saunders might go!

That's what I'm most worried about. Having to put in another offense is going to be a disaster. You need CONTINUITY to be succesful.
Just speculation, but if Saunders does go is that an issue?
Maybe the reason Gibbs hired him was for Gibbs benefit. They have the same roots in Air Coriel and Gibbs was struggling being out 11 years. Bring in Saunders a year and maybe Gibbs is using it for his own tutoring. Maybe Gibbs wants Saunders to go so Gibbs is up to date, assuming Gibbs wants to stay.
Just a thought.
