Yankees pitcher flies plane into hi-rise building in New Yor

Post by JPFair »

What the hell is going on in New York? I just heard that Yankees pitcher, Corey Lidle flew a plane into a hi-rise condo building in New York. WTF?
Sit back and watch the Redskins.

O.K. He might not have actually flown the plane, but it was owned by him and he was on board. I'm willing to bet that because of the upscale neighborhood, he probably was living there and wanted to see what it looked like by air.

Corey Lidle...AKA "The other guy" in the trade-deadline deal that brought Abreu to the Yankees.
Ironically, I was listening to Mike Francesca and Chris Russo tearing into him the other day about some comments he made immediately after the Game Four debacle that sent the Yankees home for good. Lidle actually called into the program and tried to say that they were taking his quotes out of context. Francesca, in typical Francesca mode, sicced Russo on the poor guy, who was barely able to complete a sentence during the whole 15 minute segment.
Bet they're real proud of themselves now. Sometimes, you don't get a chance to apologize...ever.
Makes you think.
Towards the end of the rip, Lidle said to Mike Francesca that he'd like to meet him sometime, so that Francesca could get to know what kind of guy Lidle really is, and not just go by what he thinks of him through odd quotes. Francesca said in reply, "I never think about you at all, to be honest".
Jesus.
RIP, Corey. I know you did your very best every time you went out, and it was always good enough for me.

Edit:
Incidentally, I notice that his passing comes 12 hours short of nine years to the day that John Denver was killed in a small, experimental-type aircraft...and that he (as, some media report, did Lidle) mayday'd for fuel problems.
You'd think things like this would only happen a few times before a change is made.
