Gibbs was pissed
Boy was Gibbs Pissed Saturday night. For good reason, too... the team was lifeless. Preseason hardly matters but Wow, after watching Gibbs's press conference, I have never seen him so irritated.
I wonder if this will be a smack in the ass for the players to at least put together a decent offensive series. They better b/c the way Gibbs was sounding, he meant business.
At least Campbell looked a little better this time out, besides the interception. I am sure by Game 1 the team will be ready but Campbell is one hit away from leading the team and I hope they get him some more work with the starters in the next 2 games.

This week might be when Joe leaves the "CEO" approach to get a little more hands-on with the players on offense, and it could NOT come at a better time. Yes, these guys need a kick in the pants.
Brunell put it best when he said that they should be able to execute the "vanilla" offense during the preseason, with ease.

Back and better than ever!

Agreed. On the bright side, and assuming we are ready to play on 9/11, perhaps this approach will help the players stay fresh through the long season including 3-4 playoff games. I'm trying to find positives in an otherwise frustrating preseason.
Beat Dallas!!!

I've got an idea. The Skins should hire Steve Spurrier to coach their preseason games. He's the best preseason coach we've had in a long time. He's so good he can make Danny Wuerffel look like a hall of famer in the preseason.
Seriously, I watched both games, and I don't think it was as bad as everyone is saying. I'm not worried. The starters have barely played, and by no means have they been involved in the games enough to get a rhythm going. The offense is new, and despite what everyone seems to think, it will take some time for Saunders' system to work the way it did in KC and St. Louis. I hope I'm wrong, but it could be mid-season before we see it come together on offense. Who knows? Both Cincinnati and New York used trick plays to score points; something that you usually don't see in preseason.
I'm glad Gibbs is angry at the players, because the optimism was bothering me. It was like everyone was expecting the Skins to be given the NFC championship. I just can't wait until they start playing games that count, and winning when it matters.

I also have watched both games and am thinking back to something that has been said several times that Saunders offense takes a year to master. I hope not but so far the offense seems to be just out of sync. Not really bad but not quite there either. But being the optimist I am, we have 2 more pre-season games to get it in sync.

The 2nd & 3rd stringers have been burned. A lot of those guys will be gone in 8 days.

i think the team is just psychologically shaking off the portis injury. when that happened it really deflated everything... you get the feeling when they've been out there that they are being a little cautious, definitely not passionate. i think that really is a result of the portis injury.
things should probably pick up a bit now that gibbs has presumably reamed them out, but either way we'll see full-scale intensity against minnesota in a few weeks. i'm not really worried.

I agree I think three two a days was not enough. I think JOe Gibbs is going to get tougher on these players now.
I think Gibbs knows exactly what he is doing.

I'm taking a middle-of-the-road view about these pre-season games. On the one hand, it stinks to see one's team lose, even if it doesn't count for anything. The fact that our 2nd and 3rd stringers struggle against other teams' 2nd and 3rd stringers raises questions about depth, preparation, etc. Some of these guys will be needed during the regular season due to injury and such, so I hope they've stepped it up by then.
Still, Gibbs and Co. know preseason is just prep time, and aren't really trying to win, so I'm not too worried. Losing is probably going to keep the players a bit humbled, and maybe even a little more hungry. I still think this team will look a lot better come the regular season.

My Step Dad is a cowpie fan and he asked me
"how r the redskins doing"
& I said " well the starters look ok but all these backups are playing horribly" then I said "Its not going to matter most these guys wont see the field"
Then he said "Unless you plan on rotating them in and out like
Parcells does."
That really ticked me off, maybe because theres some truth to it?

I think at this point its good for Gibbs to get pissed at the players and demand some respectfull efforts, I look at Joe's media address on Aug 20th and he was very methodical about what went well and what didn't basically reading off a chart of notes saying "we had x number of runs for this, and y number of penalties which we dont like" JG is really the polar opposite of a coach like Jim Mora Sr. , Mike Ditka, or for that matter Parcells, those coaches will come to the media with outbursts like Mora's famous "We Suck, We just Suck" while Gibbs the more P.O'd he is the less he says, then the next time you hear him its like hearing from a guy who just stayed up all night analysing every players performance at every position on every play, & wrote it all down, himself. I love JG & I think he's going to get this team to a SB or kill himself doing it.
