I know what I'd do.
You'd likely do exactly what your lawyer told you to do, that's what you'd do. And that's why you pay them.
No offense PT but this trial has been discussed so ad nauseum here that I really don't want to re-gurgitate it all again. Maybe someone can post a link to that post made by the guy down in Florida who posted a beautiful summary of what the
actual facts were - Somebody would have to know
who it was because doing a search on 'sean taylor trial' would be an effort in futility.
All I was saying PT is that there reallly was less malice on Sean's part in this incident than there was from the 'victim'. The media may not have portrayed it that way, but that had a lot to do with the fact that the defense attorney, Michael Grieco, was using the case as a platform to promote his own DJ business. He needed the sensationalism... but that didn't make it true.
Fact is... this case was nearly thrown out of court when Grieco RESIGNED FROM OFFICE... by your exact same logic, would he have resigned from office unless he knew that he was guilty of inappropriately using his position? They certainly didn't have any real evidence to prosecute on the charges as they stood, hence the plea agreement.
Part of the problem is that you're presuming that because he's guilty of SOMETHING, that he's guilty of what he was charged with and just got away with less. This guy ripped off Sean's ATV's... there WAS likely a physical altercation that Sean WAS guilty of particpating in.
One that warranted a charge of simple assault, and simple battery... exactly what he got charged with.
Those are the facts no matter how much someone grandstands it or sensationalizes it. I realize that it became a circus but surely you're wise enough to know that for every famous person that gets away with something, there's one that is wrongly accused of something.
Sean's not really guilty of much here but bad judgement. When you have as much money as he now does, you probably shouldn't react so exuberently to someone stealing your property... but people are of the very wrong impression that he was playing shootout at the OK corral. There has never been any real proof of Sean brandishing a weapon... if there were... then the district attorney's office would have tried vehemently to make the charges stick to save SOME face for the office. Now Grieco's over exuberence was just that.
And while I know that I don't know the REAL facts here any more than you do... I do know that it's totally unfair to paint Sean as a stone cold killing criminal for an event that was nothing were it not for it's 'headline' potential.
You say you or I would have never accepted a plea to a misdemeanor, as I said, speak for yourself... I'll do what my lawyer tells me to do... I also say that it's moot because Grieco couldn't have grabbed a headline if you stole my ATV's and wouldn't care if I punched you out, nor would he have charged me.
You know what I'm saying...
Sean Taylor was one of a kind, may he rest in peace.
