Roy Williams talks about his breakup with Kelly Rowland of D

Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

Roy Williams talks about his breakup with Kelly Rowland of D

Post by Chris Luva Luva »

*Dallas Cowboys player Roy Williams is speaking out for the first time about his breakup with former Destiny's Child star Kelly Rowland.

In an interview with Vibe Vixen, the 6 ft., 226-pound defensive back said he initially wanted to slow down their whirlwind romance after he took a pre-marriage, getting-to-know-your-mate questionnaire and discovered just how little he really knew about the singer.

"I sat her down on the bed and said, 'Kelly, we don't know each other well enough to get married,’” Williams said in the magazine. "At the time, she was cool with it, but I ended up catching a lot of heat for doing the grown-up thing."

Rowland, meanwhile, said the calling off of her nuptials was embarrassing, as she had just appeared in a wedding gown on the cover of Modern Bride magazine.

She told Vibe Vixen: "I was so embarrassed. I didn't even want to go out of the house and I really didn't want to put my family in the position of having to answer questions about the wedding."

The word around the bandwagon is that Kelly got tired of being horsecollared and Roy got burned on multiple occasions.

I look on the bright side...at least it didn't involve any firearms.

I don't get it ... please tell me that wasn't a Taylor joke because that was weak ... replace firearms (totally baseless prosecution, something you've complained about) with saliva and it works

Call me old fashioned, but like I told your boy, copping a plea still screams "not innocent".

Just sayin'

I'm disappointed. You're usually better able to separate fact from rhetoric. I mean cripes... you've been beating that drum about yourself here for a coupla seasons now.

You also obviously lack the requisite knowledge of actual facts to have a conversation about this particular incident so why bother?

Truth of the matter is... a non-star athlete would have never even had charges brought against them.

Spew your venom all you like... that's all it is. It's absolutely baseless in fact. I doubt you're even aware of the actual facts of the case as opposed to bastardized media reports of the facts (in this instance).

Don't whine later on in the season that you ALWAYS bring solid dialogue and not rhetoric because this post is obvious proof that sometimes... you just bring hate...

... like any other Cowboy fan.

Give me facts, then, BH. Let's say it were you and you knew you were completely innocent of the "alleged crime".

Would you cop a plea bargain?

This isn't spewing hate (which is what any thread related to the Cowboys on this board is, btw)...just a question. I'd say the same if it were someone like, say Julius Jones or DeMarcus Ware being stupid.

You're right, I don't know all the facts of this case, and I don't know all there is to know about the intricacies of the court room. Educate me, please.

Common sense was all I used. Sorry.

And whining went out of style after high school.

So PT42, knowing that the justice system is far from perfect, and knowing you can choose between pleading guilty to two misdemeanor charges and serve no jail time or go to court and take your chances that you get 12 FSU fans on the jury looking at 46 years, what would you choose? I know what I'd do.

You'd likely do exactly what your lawyer told you to do, that's what you'd do. And that's why you pay them.

No offense PT but this trial has been discussed so ad nauseum here that I really don't want to re-gurgitate it all again. Maybe someone can post a link to that post made by the guy down in Florida who posted a beautiful summary of what the actual facts were - Somebody would have to know who it was because doing a search on 'sean taylor trial' would be an effort in futility.

All I was saying PT is that there reallly was less malice on Sean's part in this incident than there was from the 'victim'. The media may not have portrayed it that way, but that had a lot to do with the fact that the defense attorney, Michael Grieco, was using the case as a platform to promote his own DJ business. He needed the sensationalism... but that didn't make it true.

Fact is... this case was nearly thrown out of court when Grieco RESIGNED FROM OFFICE... by your exact same logic, would he have resigned from office unless he knew that he was guilty of inappropriately using his position? They certainly didn't have any real evidence to prosecute on the charges as they stood, hence the plea agreement.

Part of the problem is that you're presuming that because he's guilty of SOMETHING, that he's guilty of what he was charged with and just got away with less. This guy ripped off Sean's ATV's... there WAS likely a physical altercation that Sean WAS guilty of particpating in.

One that warranted a charge of simple assault, and simple battery... exactly what he got charged with.

Those are the facts no matter how much someone grandstands it or sensationalizes it. I realize that it became a circus but surely you're wise enough to know that for every famous person that gets away with something, there's one that is wrongly accused of something.

Sean's not really guilty of much here but bad judgement. When you have as much money as he now does, you probably shouldn't react so exuberently to someone stealing your property... but people are of the very wrong impression that he was playing shootout at the OK corral. There has never been any real proof of Sean brandishing a weapon... if there were... then the district attorney's office would have tried vehemently to make the charges stick to save SOME face for the office. Now Grieco's over exuberence was just that.

And while I know that I don't know the REAL facts here any more than you do... I do know that it's totally unfair to paint Sean as a stone cold killing criminal for an event that was nothing were it not for it's 'headline' potential.

You say you or I would have never accepted a plea to a misdemeanor, as I said, speak for yourself... I'll do what my lawyer tells me to do... I also say that it's moot because Grieco couldn't have grabbed a headline if you stole my ATV's and wouldn't care if I punched you out, nor would he have charged me.  ROTFALMAO

You know what I'm saying...
Sean Taylor was one of a kind, may he rest in peace.

Isn't that what the selection process is there to prevent? Where the hell is Justice Hog?

Point taken, BH...I guess this is why I won't steal an ATV from you, not that I'd know where to find it.

That's how all this got started Sean went looking for his ATVs

Had this been Joe and Jack Doorknob instead of Taylor and whoever, Joe would would have been charged with the 2 charges Taylor plead no contest to and Jack would at the least been investagated for thieft and firing into a dwelling. That's the course this took until DJ ESQ heard Sean Taylor was involed, Taylor went from facing 3 years if guilty before he turned himself in to facing 46 years a week later.

Best I can tell Taylor had 2 ATVs stolen, his SUV shot up, The house he was staying was sprayed, and he hit hit the guy that committed the acts. He also was offered a deal that included no jail time but a admition of guilt - he turned that down more than a month ago. 9 times out of ten the DA came to Sean's camp with this deal not Sean seeking a deal. In fact it has been reported that the Lawyers had to talk Sean into making the plea that he did.

Taylor has done some dumb things in the past, he's even done some stupid things but this was just someone taking his name and running with it. Had it been Shawn Taylor we would have never heard about it.

Thanks, that's what I was looking for.

I did also write an article when the plea was reached that glosses over the main points.

... oh and PT, I keep my ATV's at Sean Taylor's.

In your defense, this case has been extremely misrepresented in the press thanks to Mr. Grieco. There are tons of Redskin fans that haven't done their homework either, and this case did require doing some homework to have an informed opinion.

But these days... having an informed opinion usually DOES involve some homework... and you know that.

I really hope you'll look at the facts and drop the whole Gangster-Taylor schtick that you've become fond of. Frankly, you're just belittling your actual football knowledge by beating such a weak drum.

My 2 cents

Well, to be fair, that changes a lot.

How come this doesn't make the press outside of Miami-Dade is my next question.

While I agree that the media can at times be manipulative (and that's my line of work, admittedly), I don't think this kind of stuff would be withheld, even by "Redskin haters".

That means that the logical explanations here are that a) all of these guys, like me, didn't do their homework or b) there's something seriously wrong with the Florida media or c) this is a fabrication.

I'm eliminating C because I give the benefit of the doubt to SkinsFreak and about the only thing I'm sure of in regards to you is that you're not a BSer. But you can't expect my opinion of these to not be the way it is when apparently the only place you can find that information is on whatever page of that thread it was on your message board. I don't go digging in threads that don't involve you guys hating on the Cowboys (There's that word again). I do agree that the Grieco guy's an idiot and a waste of oxygen; I saw what he did a few months back. Total scumbag.

If B is the case...then I'm totally disgusted because if there's one rule about the media that is SUPPOSED to be followed, it's the old "Give the people what they want, not what you want"...and in this case, people wanted the truth. I don't know what to think in regards to all this. I'll look into it a little more.

BUT... this does not change my opinion that he's a thug, even if this incident doesn't happen. That's like me whipping out a soap box and boldly declaring that Michael Irvin never took a drug in his life.
