Whats is this all about with Brandon Lloyd?

Post by RobSkins1 »

Wide receiver Brandon Lloyd has signed the one-year, restricted free agent contract that was offered to him by the San Francisco 49ers prior to the March 12 trade with the Redskins.

This is on the Redskins web site link. (at the bottom)

Dunno, I don't think that this has any relevance to any ongoing contract negotiations.

Well I hope so, but it sounds to me like he just singed with the 49ers for a one year deal

He is now under contract with us.
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

No, he signed the one year deal that was part of his original contract with the 49ers. That has been transferred to us since the trade. It is a "restricted" free agent contract. That means he is locked in to playing for whichever team has his rights and that's us.

As I understand it, we have 'rights' for one year - unless we renegotiate his contract for a longer period. It is my further understanding that that renegotiation is in progress.

It'll get done. Last year people were worried about Moss's contract. He even skipped a lot of the "non-mandatory" (which to Joe Gibbs means mandatory) workouts while his deal was getting done. It took a long time and people were worried but it got done. Soon enough Lloyd will have a contract too.

This trades aren't made unless some type of agreement is pretty much in place. You don't trade for a player with 1 year left on his contract unless you KNIW you can get a extention.

Trades were final when the player passed the physical. There will be know reversals. If the player doesn't sign a new deal then the become UFA in 2007.
