Baseball video game

Post by Kentucky Fried Hog »

I'm in the market for an MLB game for the PS2. There are a few out there to choose from, can anyone recommend a good one?

I have MLB: The Show, it's just like MVP 2005 from EA Sports, but the graphics are MUCH better! I hate 2K everything, I hated the last football game they made so I won't even try the Baseball.

MLB: The Show is a LOT different from MVP...

Mostly good ways, but a few bad.

My advice to KFH is to buy his game from a videogame specialty store that has a liberal return politcy (7 days, opened, with a recipt), failing that (my town didn't have one until two years ago) you're gonna have to rent.

Within two or three days you can tell if the game is for you or not.

Good luck!

I have heard MLB 2006 is awesome, I have friends in the middle of the season right now. I'm almost afraid to buy it because I'll be so unproductive and want to play it all the time. I think once the season starts, I'm gonna get it.

Maybe it is just me, but I think MLB 2006 sucks. I had hoped with MVP baseball only existing in college form, that this game would bring something. While the wealth of graphics, commentary and game play modes is pretty cool. The game play itself is lacking.

I never feel as if I am involved with the game. Without the throw meter, the ability to hit cutoff men, horrible baserunning controls, it just feels clumsy at best. On top of which, what's the deal with being able to hit inside the park homers all the time? I played a bunch of games and have done it at least 4 times. I hate that I can hit home runs by hitting the power swing or the contact swing. I did not like the fact I could not bring my manager out to argue calls, or have my player chrage the mound after getting hit by a pitch. Even worse, I kept hitting Jeter, A-Rod and Johnny Damon in the face with pitches that recived no repercussions from either the Yankees or the umpire.

The only thing MLB 2006: the show, showed me, was that I wish EA Sports still had a MLB license.
