Pennington isn't THAT great, I would ask him for a paycut too... but I like him okay.
I wonder if the Vikes can trade Cullpepper and then sign Brees or Pennington...
That would put them in a nice situation for next season, depending on how much they got for Daunte.

for you young-ins -- remember Phil Simms? He was hurt a lot his first few years then.....he came back to play, virtually without injury, for years - kicking our butts way too many times. I wouldn't give up on him quite yet if I were the Jets. What are their options? They have an old rb, a wr who is always hurt (Mr coles) and a QB who has been hurt a lot..they'll stick with Pennington and hope and pray he comes around. Testaverde? Yeah, right.

How can a guy who everyone says sucks be overrated?
I think everyone's given up on him WAY too early.
If he actually comes back from rehab healed FULLY (which he wasn't last year, and is the reason people think he's a chump - he simply listened without questioning anyone when the Jets told him to hurry back for the pre-season. Chad's problem is being too MUCH of a team player...hurrying back early from his torn rotator cuff because he was told they needed him)
He'd do best to miss the first few games if need be. Make sure the arm is 100% before making more mistakes.

His particular injury is tough to come back from once. Twice ? Extremely hard. Arm strength comes into question.
When you consider that he has yet to really test it...you can't blame the Smizzies.

Don't forget that his arm strength was already a question before the injuries.
I like Pennington a lot, but he's the QB version of Ki-Jana Carter to me. Always injured. You don't want to invest a lot of money in a player like that, since you cannot count on him.

In the same article:
According to two more people with knowledge of the situation, the Jets are trying to get running back Curtis Martin, center Kevin Mawae, guard Pete Kendall, tackle Jason Fabini and receiver Laveranues Coles to accept pay cuts or reworked deals.
Nice going Mr. Coles. I hope you are happy now. We are.

Daniel Snyder has defined incompetence, failure and greed to true Washington Redskins fans for over a decade and a half. Stay away from football operations !!!

No, no, no. You don't trade with each other. The Redskins simply rob, year after year, what is now the dumbest organization in the National Football League.skinsRin wrote:For some reason the Jets and the Skins love to trade with each other, so it would not suprise me if they are looking at Ramsey. There would be zero chance that LC would be in the trade. That guy is way over-paid and way over-rated.

I think "rob" is a little strong. Con or trick would be a better word

Former Jets coach keeping his eye on Pennington situation
With the Jets and Chad Pennington's agent meeting to determine his future with the team, a potential suitor for the injured quarterback has emerged if the discussions break down before Friday's deadline.
It's no surprise, either: Chiefs coach Herman Edwards.
