I wanted to share with those interested the detail of the newest version of Madden. You can actually see the stiching of the pants and jereseys in some shots.

I took some shots of a particular sequence of event that is very problematic.
ie. JJ is stiff arming my DE. That animation is prebaked and CANNOT be altered. Marcus was right beside the two and in real life he'd make the tackle because JJ had been slowed down. Thats not the case in Madden. 53 overruns the play because he slides off of the 2 players engaged in the animation and is now out of position and allows JJ to run for more yards.
Thats one issue I have. I read an interview and the physics are SUPPOSED to become 100% realtime so Marcus could have tackled JJ in the middle of the stiff arm because the animation was calculated on the fly and all objects would have collision detection regardless of the state they happen to be in.
The game plays like a mix of the 2K series and Madden. Thats probally due to Tiburon picking up some of the 2k development staff. I enjoy the way it plays. It definately needs a lot of work and its obvious it was thrown together for the launch.
I'm still gonna wait umntil the PS3 comes out(pushed back until fall now). Awesome screens though, it's tempting togo buy a 360 but i'll stick with PS3.

It seemed really sloppy and like they just put it on the shelves way too early.
However, I bet next years version will be much better, but 2006 one, IMO, sucked.
I dont know if I'd call it sloppy. The core game is there but nothing else. The controls are tight except for one issue. The right trigger is used to lock on a WR with the cone and to pump fake. Its too easy to pump fake instead of looking at your WR in a tight situation and it equals to a lot of sacks. Aside from that the control is tight.
The game feels a lot more realistic and I was amazed at how arcadey the PS2/Xbox versions feel in comparision.
air_hog wrote:Well, you're probably right CLL because I only have played it on 360 for about 5 mins. so I didn't get very familliar with the game.
However, my first impression was like, great graphics, but only ok gameplay.
But again, I'm pretty sure next years version will be 100X better.
I agree it'll be better.
Its a decent game on the all-madden level but I had to adjust some of the sliders. If you dont user pick a pass the AI will NEVER do it. I had a game where Springs had 3 passes hit him in the hands. I had to go in and tweak the AI to make things more realistic but not cheap.
