Gibbs Press Conference Quote...
In the press conference today, on redskins.com, Gibbs said, " its time for him[Jason Campbell] to play"
What do you guys think about that? He also said he wants to keep as many people as he can from this team, and says that Jason could have played and played well this year. Feels that he is big, strong, accurate and can make plays with his feet. Overall he seemed in a happy mood and was in a light mood.

" But you should've seen Joe (Gibbs) when they said he couldn't coach anymore...his chest puffed out and said..i dont care what it takes, were not leaving here without another ring." Coach Joe Bugel

I can't wait to see this kid play. As I mentioned on another thread, after we drafted Campbell, I decided to TIVO all of the Auburn games from their undefeated season so I could specifically watch Campbell. (Here in Florida they will replay all the prior seasons games from the SEC in the offseason.) I was very impressed, as well as all of the commentators from those games. Bring on Campbell!!!

Hey man, I haven;t seen much of Campbell at all. I dont know if it is possible for you at all, but would you be able to make some sort of college highlight reel of him, to some music. Or would you be able to get the games online to someone who could(some people at extremeskins.com can make some good videos). Most of us haven't seen much of Campbell at all, so a video would be really helpfull

I also am getting the impresion that Ramsey may be on the way out. This is a little surprising for me. I thought he played well when he's been in this season. I'm also sure he's improved having witnessed the game from the sidelines, learning things. In fact the more I think about it, I'd still be surprised if he weren't on the team next year. If he weren't then I guess all the talk we've read about how Gibbs just doesn't have any faith in this guy was completely true.

Check that for Campbell highlights.
Only problem was, I couldn't watch them with Firefox and had to use Explorer.
Pretty good stuff, and with Joe Gibbs teaching him, he could be a GREAT QB.
I am excited to possibly see him starting next season... who will he be passing to? Moss,
ey, and ???? (new TE and WR to go with them)

if anyone has them on TIVO and has a DVD burner I'll gladly ship you some DVD's and pay you for your time in burning them onto DVD for me. I'd love to see him play in his last year at Auburn. I didn't get to see him much that year do to too many things to do on a weekend outside of NFL sunday.

I'm afraid you may be right. I was watching the local coverage of the players leaving Ashburn and Ramsey was asked if he would be back. He answered that he wanted to be a starter and didn't know if that would be here or somewhere else. Most players brought cars or SUV's. Ramsey brought a UHall and took all of his stuff. It looks as if even Ramsey doesn't think he will be back.

I think what he said...and what he "didn't say" about Ramsey says a lot. "Patrick's gonna think about things for the next few weeks. I'm gonna think about things for the next few weeks, and we'll continue our conversation during that time."
Reading between the lines, it sounds like Ramsey may be on his way out.
Call it a hunch.

I thought that Gibbs comments about Campbell came in the context of answering the question whether sitting on the bench all year did him any good. Coach talked about all the mental preparation that backups receive during meetings and practice and made the point that that makes a huge difference. I did not think that these comments meant that Campbell would be the starter next year. I think he only meant that if he had to go into a game he would be okay.
I think that Patrick will be elsewhere next year, and I think that will be good for him. I like the guy and wish he could get another shot here, but it's not going to happen. If I were him, I would not want to stay. I just hope we can get someone for him. Not a draft pick, but a real starter.

Gibbs is the freaking MAN. i love that guy. He is so cool, classy and straight forward. To me its funny how during the season he is so stoic and almost ill looking at times with his seriousness, and then in the offseason he seems positve and loose and that high pitched cackle is back. Good times. I also hope campbell plays. Hes going to make mistakes but if we can solidify a few areas, he will have weapons and from what ive seen on film he seems to be a pretty cool customer and the game doesnt seem bigger that him. So im PUMPED!

regarding campbell:
this looks to me like at the very least, campbell is in "open competition" for the starting QB spot next year. gibbs may already be leaning toward him now that he's put in his year of study. this is the most wonderfully exciting news!
Continued Gibbs: "We see a lot in practice. My impression is that he's very accurate. I think he's going to be a guy that can really roam with a football. I think he's going to make plays with his feet. I think he has a sense of what the pocket is. He'll slide. He's going to be hard to sack because he's so big. We've seen a lot out of him.
"Now, he needs to play. We'll get into that. I laughingly told him, 'Take the hat off and throw it away. You're getting ready to go work. You're going to have to earn your money now.' Carlos Rogers was yelling at him, too. He said, 'I told my buddy that he has to start earning his money. The rest of us are out there playing.' Anyway, I think Jason had a year that was probably good for him. He got to hear it, see it and go through it. He probably learned a lot."
