The Power of the redeemed Skins' prayers

Post by REDEEMEDSKIN »

ANT's post in another thread included the following nugget that caught my eye and reminded me of something I wanted to share with y'all:

"We're definitely blessed," Clark said. "We've got a lot of people on this team that pray a lot and a lot of parents that pray a lot. My mom prays so much she might have to have knee surgery at the end of the season."

A brother-in-the-faith of mine down in Tampa had the opporunity to be a part of the Redskins' Friday Night chapel service both times the team went down to FL to play the Bucs.

Last Friday he witnessed some of the players praying over the coaching staff. For those of you familiar with similar-type prayer meetings, the players "laid hands" on the coaches (prayed over them), and asked God to lead them on Sunday vs. the Bucs.

True, the record-low offensive output seems anything but "divine", but the faith and cool-headedness displayed by the coaching staff --Joe Gibbs in particular-- is certainly a quality that only comes with the assuredness that, win or lose, the trust, guidance, and security has already been laid in the hands of the Almighty.

Now, as per Ryan Clark's comments re: his momma's and other players' mommas prayers, can u imagine how prepared, mentally, emotionally, and, first and foremost, spiritually many of our players/coaches will be come Sunday in Seattle??

Rest assured, I'll be prayin' for these cats as well, and if you do as well, pray that we come outta this one healthy, victorious (win or lose -- y'all know what I mean), and even more of a team than when the team arrives in Seattle.

It should make for a great contest.

17-5 all-time in the playoffs? A lot of hard work, attention to detail, and TONS of prayer. Lord willing, by this time next week we'll be talking about an 18-5 record heading into the NFC Championship game.

Blessings,

- REDEEMEDSKIN O:)

All I pray for is that the skins give there best effort and pour all there heart into each game. As long as they do that I can live with the outcome win or lose.

I am all for the power of prayer, but praying for something as trivial as success in a sporting event boarders on sacrilidge for me, it's pretty disturbing.

Pray that no one gets hurt, pray that people drive home from the game safely, but don't pray for victory, it's stupid

I always pray that nobody gets hurt on either team and to help the Skins find a way to win.

I'm pretty sure the Lord likes a good ball game! I definately pray for the health of all players and a good solid match.

BTW -- If the Cowpukes can arbitrarily refer to themselves as "America's Team" can we take on the monicur of "God's Team"?
"The biggest misrepresentation there is that [it's because] Dan's got a lot of money. That's not it," Gibbs said. "We've got a rule. Believe me, if we had no rules, Dan would spend some money."

My friends and I always pray before and after we play. We pray for no injuries and for a good spirited game. We pray afterwards out of thanks for him blessing us with it.

Im glad that those players who do believe are keeping their aging coaches covered in prayer.

I pray that Ryan Clark's mom doesn't need knee surgery at the end of the year.

There! Now everything is fixed. :-"
Sean Taylor was one of a kind, may he rest in peace.

SF55, keep in mind, too, that what for us is a sporting event, to players and coaches it is there livelihood, their jobs. Who doesn't pray (for those who pray) for success, protection, guidance, wisdom, etc. in their workplace?? My 2 cents

I don't pray, but if I did, I would pray for a missle to detroy my workplace on a Saturday when no one was here.

^^^^^ ROTFALMAO

I rest my case! - We have the best team in the NFL and some of the "sickest" fans - we should send Hurrey on the road with these guys - Niki would probably pay 1/2!
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)
