Still active, just not getting much PT. You see him once in a while in nickel / dime packages. I wondered the same thing a while back given what a great start he had last year before getting injured. I think it's been tough for him to get in there with the emergence of Taylor & Clark.

That goes to show that Wiliiams is a man of his word. He always says he'll put the best guys out there, and he's not afraid to sit guys down, even if they're name guys like Arrington or Bowen, in this case.

I respect that fo' sho'.

We need to remember that Bowen hasn't done much at all since Week 1 of 2004.

You don't produce, you don't need to play.

Yes. If memory serves me correctly, Bowen started out 2004 like gang busters...getting multiple sacks. I was really excited to see what he was going to do. Then he got hurt and that was the last of Matt Bowen for a while.

He certainly does still play - he's playing the harmonica in a skiffle band. He certainly doesn't seem to be playing safety for the Washington Redskins.

Am I the only one who remembers this guy being a total liability for the Redskins in the late 90s? I can recall hearing return after return negated by "Block in the back, number 23 on the return team."
Just more proof that G Williams is a genius

Since Matt Bowen has ionly been in the league since 2000 and only with the Redskins since 2003, I hope you're the only one.

bowen is a good player, i hope we use him to blitz more he's a terror when he hits...remember on one of the first days of training camp in the spurrier era he knocked the snot out of trung canidate, almost knocked him right out...i want to see him do that to matt hasselbeck.
Sean, may you always rest in peace and look down on us with the same love that we look up to you.

It's possible you are thinking of Ade Jimoh from last year. He wore 23.

Also possible you are thinking of Matt Stevens who played for the Redskins in 1999 and 2000.

Guys, it's not that hard to go to NFL.com and look up a player's stats.

He played in 13 games, had 13 tackles, 1 assist, no sacks, 3 passes defensed.

Oh, and he plays Strong Safety, so he's not really behind Sean Taylor (who plays Free Safety) in the depth chart.

Almost the pink straw that broke the camel's back?

Matt Stevens was playing with the Texans until last year or the year before.

Pretty much, I was actually calling friends/relatives (my 17-year-old sister knows an impressive amount about the Skins) and they either couldn't remember or thought I was insane ... rather, they thought I was more insane.
What an awful, awful player ... by the by, speaking of the Texans, nice job Charley.
