What should Houston do?
So what should Houston do with their #1 pick? I personally think drafting Bush would be a big mistake. The way I see it, they currently have a decent QB, a good RB, and a good WR in Andre Johnson and not much else.
Until two days ago I thought the only smart thing to do would be to trade away their pick for a crapload of draft picks and try to build a real team. Drafting Bush made no sense to me because they had no o-line and they already had a good RB. I thought they should have gottent four first rounders over the next two years or whatever and just drafted an o-line for those guys to play behind and even Bush wouldn't do much in the NFL behind an awful line, that would just be a huge waste.
However, now I think they should draft Vince Young. Here's my reasoning. First, he's big enough and fast enough that teams can't just go on an allout rush, rather they must try to contain him in the pocket. That will immediately make the line better. Secondly, IMO Dominic Davis is a much better RB than Carr is a QB. So you trade Carr for a pick, keep Davis, and draft Young. Use the pick you got for Carr and your other picks on o-line, defense, or a #2 reciever that that is a much better well-rounded team than you would have ditching Davis and sticking with Carr and drafting Bush.
So, whereas before I thought they should trade the pick, now i think they should draft Young. What do you guys think?

Draft Young....a hometown boy who not only made himself out to be Superman the other night (and with past performances ie. last year's Rose Bowl).....which will sell tons of tickets. Besides the guy is a flat out baller. I disagree with those who say he won't cut it as a NFL QB.
God bless our troops and Joe Gibbs.
We'll miss you, Joe.
#21 gone, but never forgotten.

I think he will go, his stock is so high right now he could get a big payday now. Who know's what might happen if he stays in college. Vince all the way. Houston could be good in a hurry with Young and Davis and Wells in the backfield and Johnson at wideout and then you trade carr for a better Defense. watch out! they could be good right away
DON'T SING IT! BRING IT!
Houston needs too many things to use the #1. I say trade down and pick up extra picks. If they can't get any real value in trading down I say to take Young or Bush. Most people say to take Bush, but I'm not yet sold on taking RB's with the #1 overall pick. With Houston's line problems they'll need a QB that can move - and thats Young.

how about you trade down and take ferguson in the first round and then after that worry about filling in some other holes...there is plenty of talent to go around and right now i think domanick davis is more than an adequate runner for this team. if carr can stay upright he can do some pretty amazing stuff, so the first concern, especailly after picking up that fourth year option, is keeping the kid on his feet.
Sean, may you always rest in peace and look down on us with the same love that we look up to you.

Houston should use the pick on Marcus Vick. Dallas has been pretty successful over the years with thugs....maybe it will work for Houston....that, or they should trade their pick for a claymore mine and blow up the whole franchise.
RIP 21

I agree 100% ... it's too soon to give up on Carr, Davis is a solid RB and they can get quite a bit of value from trading the pick
RIP Sean Taylor
Houston has far too many needs and Reggie Bush, as great as he may be, is not a proven player. It burns me how so many "analysts" are already talking about the guy like he's already in Canton!! Trade down and help your team.

I think the 'trade it' idea has merit because Houston needs help all over.
But if they use it, they need to look at it from a combination viewpoint -- which QB/RB combo is best for the longterm:
Carr and Bush -- or -- Young and Davis.
I'm thinking Carr/Bush is the better of those choices when you look at the two together.

you cant just trade down so easily, it is hard to find a buyer for the first overall not to mention the only team with 2 ones is the Broncos and they are going to have to LATE picks......
Get this Over at Texanstalk.com where I am a REGULAR to say the least, they want Vince, they are almost all together off Bush, are they crazy or am I??? He is going to be a stud and frankly I pray that he goes to the AFC

I miss you 21.
God I wish we had a second round pick.
God I wish we had a second round pick.
I'm hoping Bush goes to the Texans so when we play them next year, we can hold him to 37 yards on 16 carries...
Seriously, I think the Texans should do one of two things:
1) Draft Young with the 1st pick and trade Carr for a very early 1st rounder. With the Carr pick -- take the best OL available or trade down a little and get 2 picks so they can get two OL); or
2) Trade the 1st pick for a later 1st rounder, 2nd rounder, player, and a 3rd rounder in the 07 draft...they need so much.
I think Bush doesn't make the Texans that much better. Their OL is still the worst around...you have Bush and Davis - so what?? Plus, Bush isn't even good enough to be in the Nat'l Championship game when you need 2 yards on 4th down. If he's superman, as the press is making him out to be, he's in there.

They need to trade down and take the OT from UVA D'brickshaw Ferguson, The guy is supposedly a dominant left tackle, which would help the worst o-line in football. When they trade the #1 overall for a couple of picks they will ultimately make their team better. Even though reggie bush or vince young will put butts in the seats, that will only be until they have a losing record again, which wouldnt take long.
Win some games and people will come watch.

In a prior post, I stated that the Texans should either take YOung or trade down to get Brickshaw...however, Brickshaw is not that "big" -- big for LTs, that is. He's around 290lbs. I'm not so sure he's an absolute sure thing (not that anyone is, I guess) great LT for 10 years. Dominant LTs are bigger guys -- 320-330 lbs, or so. Maybe he'll get bigger in the pros.
This weekend I heard someone say that NFL teams (and coaches) are under serious pressure to pick guys that will, without a doubt, excel when picked this early in the draft. Sure things are a must. Guess Reggie Bush is the surest thing going. What makes RBs excel in college are the same things that make RBs good in the pros. Other positions are tougher to gauge.
