Ryan Clarks personal foul...

Post by Chris Luva Luva »

My problem with that call was that the WR had a chance to catch the ball. Listening to Eisen and TO they said that the WR had no way to protect himself which is a bull reason IMO. So if a WR is stretching out you cannot hit him? You have to allow him to catch the pass? If so that is BS. I'll take the penalty any day if thats the case. At least you deliver punishment and you let them know that you are out there.

I agree that was totally a B.S. call. From where I was sitting, up in the cheap seats, it looked like a good hit in "real time". When they replayed it on the big screen, it confirmed my opinion. That was a solid, legal hit and the call was completely bogus.

It was a good call, because he lead with the crown of the helmet AND the receiver was defemseless at the time.

At the same time the WR must have thought he was being drilled by Taylor but will now pass the word that either of our safties are subject to take someones head off at anytime

I thought it was good, even if it was a personal foul, sometimes they are neccesary to send a message. I think the message was recieved.

We know that in hindsight but in the midst of the play he had to hit him imo. The WR did get his hands on the ball, was he supposed to let him catch it or remove all possibilty? It wasn't even helmet to helmet.

This is why I sometimes hate Football.

CLL is exactly right, are you just supposed to watch the WR make a nice catch, and then lightly shove him out of bounds?

No. You are suppossed to lay down the wood and jack that fool up. IT'S FOOTBALL

I'll take that pentalty 10 times out of 10.

If that's the case, then I agree with you. It just didn't appear that way to me on the big screen....probably because our "big screen" really isn't that big at all.

Exactly, lay it down. They're scared of our secondary. I'd never allow anyone to catch a pass if I had something to do with it. If the ball isn't catchable thats different but that guy clearly got his fingers on the ball.

I watched the replay and the call was right. Ryan did lay his head down and lead with the crown of his helmet. All he had to do was keep his head up and no foul would have been called.

it sucks that the gnats scored. but it didn't matter because that hit was THE HIT that set the tone of the game. ;)

football is an emotional game. you want to get a sideline fired up? let a guy score a head buster.... thats all it takes for a spark, and that hit was it. kudos to ryan. do it again this week, and the next five for that matter. :)

It was one of those calls that could go either way, Clark barely hit helmet to helmet, but damn he laid him out and I loved it. I'd take that penalty anyday.

And yet, Roy Williams gets away with a horsecollar every damned week. The rule was created because of him, and he still commits the infraction without penalty.
Mark Carrier's career was hampered by too much attention from the zebras for hits like the one Clark laid on.
Maybe he should've switched to the horsecollar tackle. My 2 cents

If they always called penalties for leading with the helmet "Jacked Up" would not exist on Monday nights.

You can lead with the helmet (if you want to break your neck) but not the crown
