Does anybody have a link to what the Skins need to make it?
Does anyone know of a link which explains the breakdown of how the Skins can make the playoffs for these fans in Jacksonville? We don't get any info in our papers.

Here is something quick that talks about what we need to do:
• Washington (7-6)
They're looking up at eight teams in the NFC, but the Redskins are only a game behind the three teams that are 8-5. With the Cowboys and East-leading Giants, both at home, in the next two weeks, the Skins have the potential to be more than just spoilers. They finish at Philadelphia. With Washington's 2-1 division record and 7-2 conference mark, the playoffs are right there.
That's plenty of motivation for the Skins. On top of that, it's the archrival Cowboys (enough said) and the Redskins certainly will be looking for revenge against New York, which handed Washington its worst loss of the season, 36-0, back on Oct. 30.

The Skins have bounced back from those three heartbreaking losses to the Bucs, Raiders and Chargers with back-to-back wins over the Rams and Cardinals. Granted, those are NFC West teams, but Clinton Portis has gotten going (first consecutive 100-yard games as a Redskin in the last two weeks). Joe Gibbs just has to remember not to get away from the running game. If the Redskins can find a way to break their season-long habit of giving the ball away (minus-7 turnover differential) and get better play from Mark Brunell, maybe they can sneak in, or at least make life a little harder for Dallas and/or New York, which I'm sure they wouldn't mind doing.

Here's the Easiest 3 Point Breakdown. (There are other less likely scenarios but this is the most straightforward)
1. Redskins need to WIN THEIR GAMES.
2. Redskins WIN 3 and Giants Lose to Chiefs: Skins take Division
3. Skins win 3 and Minny & ATL lose 1 = Wildcard

Wow. I didn't realize the Wild Card formula was that simple.
But it is. And Dallas doesn't matter -- even if they're part of the 10-6 mix.
If two teams from the same division are part of a tie for a WC spot, the tie between them is broken before the other teams are added. (WSH would have swept DAL)
WSH would then have a better NFC record (10-2) than either MIN or ATL (both already at 4 NFC losses).

I'd say they lose 2 out of 3 easy!
Yep...and if we take care of business either that happens or the Giants lose...the odds are in our favor, but we HAVE to win our games...we can't play the other games for other teams.

Nope ... can't agree with this statement...
currently there are 4 teams at 9-4 and Seattle at 11-2. Let's say they all get in that means ....
Div. Champs = NY Gints, Seattle, Chigcago and (TB or Car in the South the other getting the 1st wild card) and 1 spot left.
Atlanta, Minny and that team in Texas are all at 8-5 and if the playoffs started today Minn. would get the last spot at 7-4 in the conference. Fortunately the playoffs don't start today.
Let's look forward 1 week (that's as far as we should be looking)
The Vikes play the Steelers, Atlanta plays TB let's say they both lose Now you have to add the Skins to the list for the last WC spot because they are all sitting at 8-6. Now if the playoffs were to start the last spot would belong to the Skins because of head-to-head versus that team in Texas and the Conference record would be 8-2.
From then on we just have to keep pace with these three team and we'll have the the last wildcard spot.
If That team in Texas, Atlanta and minny all finnish at 9-7 and we lose 1 of the last 3 we still get in.
Winning out would be a whole lot easier and that starts at Fex-Ex this Sunday. Winning that game puts us right where we need to be at this point, Pitt and TB victories wouldn't hurt

1niksder's right - just win the next game!
The really neat thing is that we are at this position at this stage of the season. Whether we make the playoffs or not we are a more competitive team this year and we have improved from last year. That is the "glass half full" philosophy that I like to enjoy.
Now, there are some of us that want to look at a lot of "bad" or negative stuff and that is how they "enjoy" being fans and they will tell you they are very good and loyal fans. That is fine too!
We all agree that we are Redskins fans and we just "look at" things from a slightly different perspective!
We are here, we are still in the chase and how great is that?
The team is going to continue to get better with Gibbs and Williams.
Beat Dallas and we're

Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)
I think that if we win three in a row we are essentially guaranteed a playoff spot. The reason is we would hold the tiebreaker with Dallas and all of the NFC South teams have to play each other over the last three weeks too. Only Tampa holds a tiebreaker over us.
In addition, the Cowboys play the Panthers, the Bears play the Falcons, and the Bears play the Vikings. Therefore, some of the teams we are chasing are guaranteed a loss or two.
Therefore, if we win out we are guaranteed to pick up games on a few of the teams ahead of us and we have great tiebreakers. So, I am not sure but I doubt that it is possible for us to miss the playoffs if we win three in a row.

if we win out (10-6) and minny wins out (11-5), which, admittedly is difficult, as they'd have to beat pittsburgh, baltimore and chicageo, they'd have the final wildcard spot. so it is possible, however unlikely.

The Skins can lose a game and still get in but really needs help from other teams, OR Skins win out and get in unless Minn. wins out.
Unless Chicago loses all three to a) give MIN the division title. Of, course, that would also necessitate DAL and ATL being involved in the tie at 9-7.
