Great places to watch the game in DC (not FED EX).

Post by REDEEMEDSKIN »

OKay, chances are slim (about $350 slim) that I'll be able to watch the game in person, so me an my buddy (along with our wives) want to watch the Skins v Pukes games in a bar/lounge/sports emporium of sorts this weekend.

He lives in Bowie.
I live in Northern Virginia.
We want to meet somewhere in DC.

Any suggestions on where to watch the game in DC? I know ESPNZone is probably a good choice, but I'm afraid, I'd have to be there real eraly to secure a seat, which I might not be able to do.

I'm looking for a place where the Skins game will be the main game shown, and where I will be able to actually hear the telecast. Know any good places? Please help. Thanks.

Stetson's, near 16th and U draws a great crowd for 'skins games.

It's been a while since I've caught a game there but it might be worth getting there a tad early as tables fill up.

If I can't get tickets I might try to make my way down there.

The place on U street sounds good. Any other suggestions, though??? Does ANYONE watch the games at a sports bar in DC??

BTW- Are these establishments in DC non-smoking? I was wondering, since my friend's wife is pregnant, and we can't be having the second hand smoke. Whoo Whoooo!!!

1600 Pennsylvania Avenue

Don;'t worry about the gates, just run through them yelling, "Throw the bomb!!"

People may not remember exactly what you did
or what you said....

they will ALWAYS remember how you made them feel.

Been there before, and I don't like it quite frankly. The entertainment is kinda lame, and while it's non-smoking, at the time, there seemed to be an over-abundance of cigars. Hain't been back since 1997. Plus, the Texan in there NOW might be rooting for the pukes.

Here you go...

The one good thing about Stetson's is they crank Hail to the Redskins after each time we score. It can get a bit smokey at times though.

***There's another place in Adams Morgan called Ventnor Sports Cafe. I haven't been but here's a write up: http://www.capitalcommunitynews.com/pub ... tsCafe.cfm

***Buffalo Billiards right off Dupont has tons of TV's, including a couple large screens with the game on. It's a huge space and well ventilated - plus they have tons of pool tables if you play... with TV's everywhere.

***Apparently, this is a great sports bar:
Grand Slam Sports Bar
1000 H St. NW, Washington, DC 20001
202-637-4789 "Don't forget the bar's most convenient feature, its sports hotline (202/637-4789, Ext. 1), which lists the times and teams of the games the bar shows every day."
Grand Slam
Grand Slam...the Serious Sports Bar! is one of the most popular sports bars in the area. Located at 1000 H Street, NW (Lagoon Level of the Grand Hyatt Washington), Grand Slam offers a friendly and exciting environment to watch all of the latest sports, including everything from Washington's local home teams to NASCAR and the PGA Tour, and great food and beverages too!
For the Spectator...
With 3 large televisions, two 22-inch plasma screens and 22 monitors, all with a state-of- the-art sound system, you can be sure to see your favorite team play while keeping your eye on the competition as well.

***Then, there's Porter's Dining Saloon

There's a few for you... In the future for away games, we should coordinate a hogs.net viewing location.

No problem... I know ESPN Zone can be a zoo so it might be worth checking out one of these other spots. I know of a couple more small bars but the above should work. Let me know though.

I was able to get tickets to the game this week, so I will be able to witness the sweeping of the Cowboys in person, but I wanted to bump this thread so others could be informed of where they can go watch the game this weekend (on page 1 of this thread*)...

...provided they are willing to leave the house.

Wherever you watch the game this weekend, cheer loud and proud.

*Many thanks to Redskins1974 for his help in compiling the info on places to watch the game.*
