Spin for the Broncos game

Post by HitDoctor »

I posted this on the Broncomania website....after spending time in the smack forum.

Since this is not the smack forum, thought I would take the time to give a serious prediction of this weeks match b/w our teams. We are underdogs because we underwhelm. Unfortunately, I don't think a modern day Gibbs team is capable of blowing any team out. So, for the skins to have a CHANCE, they have to keep it close. Denver is a hostile place to play, but we are not a division foe so I can't see them getting the same intensity as say vs.Oakland. Two players will really be up for this game and depending on which player can get his team to rally around his energy, that could be the difference. The Lavar situation doesn't help, but the D has been playing well without him for so long that it shouldn't be a factor.

Coaching is a push at this point. Gibbs reimplementing the "team" approach (something that has been missing since he left the first time) has made a huge difference.

O-Line: Much improved (especially with a RT with NO THUMBS) Push

D-Line: Advantage Denver. Skins just have not put too much pressure on the QB Relying too much on Blitzes to get to and pressure the QB. Can't pay the bills that way

LB: Push. I'd give Denver the slight advantage here as our "best" LB can't get on the field

DB: Denver. Solid play thus far from Champ and company, but if that hammy is tight, could be a frustrating day for Denver.

RB: Denver. Insert RB here, push play. Portis is happy here and we're happy to have him

QB: Push. Don't know what you are going to get with jake and Brunell is more like the Brunell Gibbs has been looking for. Brunell is giving the skins a chance to win until it is time for Campbell to become McNair (Hopefully)

WR: Push. Both teams are efficient and we now know that the skins can stretch the field when needed.

ST: Denver. Elam over our rookie, but he has earned stud points last week

Won't predict a final score because I want the skins to win so my heart gets in the way. Denver, however, has the advantage. Most of my Brethren would agree.......But, we'll go nuts if we win.

Enjoy the game!
it is what it is

I have seen Jake Plummer play in Arizona many times. The best way to get to him is to get him rattled. He then makes game changing mistakes. If he gets comfortable, he can be amongst the best Q-backs in history. He led many 4th quarter comebacks in Arizona because the opposition didn't respect that ability. Personnally, I don't see the Bailey/Portis competition as being as important as the Redskins defense getting to Plummer early and hard.

I think you need to compare opposing units, not complimentary units.

For example: Our O-line versus their D-line...

This may be true, that being said, Plummer doesn't play for Arizona anymore.

That being said he's played pretty much the same way in Denver. Lucky for him the Broncos are a little better team than the Cards.

Yes, we will. Should be a great game. As far as Plummer goes, everyone knows what he did in AZ. This is his third year with the Broncos and in our system. Jake has learned and matured since in Denver and isn't being asked to go out and win games on his own. AZ had no talent to speak of when Jake was there. He tried to hard and had to much weight on his sholders there. He's looking good this year.

This is true, he looks almost as good as Brunell, so far. :)

I don't think this is correct - go reference 1982. Gibbs' teams adapt to personnel and his philosophy changes each year. 1982 was a grind it out year, where as 1991 was a gunslinger, high scoring year.

Just my 2 cents. Regardless, this is going to be a good game on Sunday. It's never easy going to Denver but if we limit mistakes and eat up the clock, anything can happen.

If you average the points per game that they score with the points per game we give up... The Broncos come out with 16.15 points... if you do it the other way around, the Redskins come out with 15.65 points... either way you slice it, it comes out a close game and will probably come down to special teams....

My biggest question about Jake the Mistake has nothing to do with his play. We all know that he is very good when he isn't rattled and pretty bad when he is. What I want to know is: What is with the Jeff Foxworthy look? Does the Redneck, trailer park burn-out look work in Denver?
