The "Goal to go" package (S. Taylor at WR)

Talk about the Washington Football Team here. Do you bleed burgundy and gold?

The "Goal to go" package (S. Taylor at WR)

Post by cvillehog »

The other night I was thinking about all the posibilities the goal to go package with Sean Taylor out wide and Cooley in the slot opens up for our offense. What play would you like to see run out of that set?

I'd like to see Taylor run a fake end around, and become the lead blocker for a delayed handoff to Portis.

I would like to see them run that same play. Except this time it would be nice if Brunell threw the ball to a wide open Taylor instead of underthrowing a covered Cooley.

1. end-around to ST
2. fake end-around to ST, pass (maybe to ST if they ignore him once the run is spotted as a fake!)
3. ST take the end-around but passes
4. ST takes the end-around but hands it off to portis coming the other way on a reverse

we could use all these different little variations throughout the season, so the other team will think they know what's coming but we'll keep it changing just enough to catch them off guard.

I would like to see a TD.

Seriously though, I want to see Cooley and Taylor go into motion into the backfield and line up as FBs and just bowl some people over as Portis calmly strolls in behind them. I think that would be most entertaining.

Either that or ST going one on one against RW.

Yesterday in a TV interview Greg Williams, said that they have been working with Sean Taylor as a short yardage receiver the entire pre-season. He also said that as the best athlete on team that Taylor could play several positions at the pro level.

The other idea I had was to change up the package a little and put Arrington in at FB/HB/TE.

Both he and Taylor were RBs in High School, and there are a ton of plays that can be run out of that set.

I am looking fwd to some more adventurous play calling from our offensive co-ordinators tonight. I am very sure that we "showed" them the ST play to make sure their D had a little more to work on this week.

This is a huge game for us and a big game for the pukes. I believe that our Special Teams have to play very well for us to dominate otherwise it's going to be a close game.
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Plain and simple...Any play that scores us a TD. If ST gets an int for a TD then I'm happy. If he gets a 99 yard reception for a TD then I'm happy. Hell is Casey Rabach fumbles and It goes into the enzone and he recovers for a TD then i'm happy. Anything for us to win.

taylor in motion, shovel pass to him w/ cooley leading the way. or vice versa. i'd just love watching either of those two bulldoze the way for the other.

I know!! I was screaming that last week, and that is why I don't feel Brunell is the right choice, he is too conservative. I mean, I know Coach Gibbs wants no turnovers, but with Brunell you also get no TDs.
