OK. I realize there is an entire thread devoted to the Nats, but IMO this issue deserves a thread to itself. Will someone please explain to me what Comcasts problem is? Not only will they not show the Nats games on Television, but when the game was also blacked out on ESPN2 today. Is Comcast trying to run our new team out of the city. BTW, Great season Nats!!!

they are having a contract dispute with the o's on who gets cable coverage. the o's won, bascally, so the nats are relegated to playing on UPN 20 and also play their cable games on some random cable company's channel...RNW...something like that?
Sean, may you always rest in peace and look down on us with the same love that we look up to you.

They were on the Mid Atlantic Sports Newtowrk (MASN) today. Do you get that channel? Most of their games are on that channel.

Angelos screwed us!!!

He blocked comcast from showing our games. He then set up his own network, which is called MASN, to show our games. You might have noticed that there was NO WAY we could see the first few games of the year. It was all because of Angelos doing everything he could to screw us. Since the Nats games are being played on Angelos' network. He gets 40% of the revenue from our team. That is only for the TV revenue. It is not for the revenue RFK is generating.

Comcast got pissed about getting screwed like that and they filed a law suit. I hope they win that suit so we don't have to give 40% to Angelos and EVERYONE, that is local, can see the Nats play. But, even if Comcast loses the suit........It won't matter that much. We would finally be able to get an owner.

Comcast has always covered the O's. Not that I wouldn't like to see more Nats games on TV, but think about the O's faithful for a second...

How would you feel if the Redskins suddenly had to share their TV coverage with the Ravens? (and yeah, that actually has happened on Comcast, news-wise) What if you were told that you could only watch every other game that they played, in order to be fair to both teams?

Don't get me wrong, the Nats deserve coverage just as much as the O's do, but if I were Angelos (shuddering at the thought...), I would have fought for the Comcast rights just the same as he did. I think the MASN channel is a good solution anyway, but they need to make it a constant (24 hr) channel, with full coverage; not one of these it's-only-MASN-during-game-time type of deals...

So your saying it's ok to screw the Nats in their hometown just b/c of the O's? Not good enough for me. The MASN network is bs and only is lining the pockets of Angelos. Furthermore, it can only be seen on DirecTV right now so how is that fair? And, in situations where games are supposed to be on ESPN2, they black it out in this area b/c the game's are put on MASN. So, people like Art_Monk get screwed b/c they don't have the MASN network.

If coverage was equal and the deal was fair for both sides, your argument would be valid but the fact is, many Nats fans are being screwed.

PS - did I say we're getting screwed?

It is the greedy nature of the whole deal that really gets to me. Everyone thought a baseball team wouldn't make it in DC and now that the Nats have taken off businesses are realizing they are a gold mine and companies like Comcast are trying to get more money while screwing the fans. The Nats are a local team so we should be able to watch the games! The only way I can see the games without having tix to the game is to go over to a friend's house who has direct TV...and so few people have Direct TV in the area.
