Madden 06 Helmets flying off..

Post by Rusty Shackleford »

I don't know if any of you have noticed this....but what's the deal with the players helmets flying off? I mean it's been happening 4-5 times a game for me. I understand this happens in real games...but i hardly think Taylor Jacobs helmet would come off 3 times in one game...Portis can't keep his helmet on too well either. I don't remember it happening this often in 05.

Yeah it never happens at the right time either. Sometimes their helmet comes off when they are tackled from behind.

lol i have had that happen too and i was going to post about it, but you beat me to it--its kind of weird, sometimes they do the whole crumple to the ground fall down thing and their helmet comes off, esp. portis! oh well, he's nearing 2000 yards and there's still 6 games to go (playing on all-pro) so i guess its ok!
Sean, may you always rest in peace and look down on us with the same love that we look up to you.

If you replay it, the helmets come off way before the collision occurs visually. However the collision occurs between the players before their polys collide because of poor collision detection/lack of hardware oomph ;). However we should seem improve detection in next years Madden for 360/PS3.

yeah good point cll, i remember one pass hit kozlowski's shoulder pad but it turned before it even hit him, relatively speaking about a foot before it got to him, pretty bad graphical engineering, but whatever, it looks ok in real time.

Well its not the graphics, its the ivisible box that determines when two players hit each other. The reason why like I stated above that this stuff seems odd in slow motion is because of the weak hardware of the PS2 and Xbox. Possibly with the PS3, 360 and Rev. we'll see improve collisin detection. I think that if they let the collision occur when the actually models collide we'd see an INSANE amount of clipping. Clipping is when two models go through each other, like when a players arm goes through anothers helmet.

With the PS3s CELL cpu, we'll see increased physics and such due to its insane amount of FLOPS.
