CB Antrell Hawkins is now on IR, he's prolly done as a Redskin. He only signed a one yr deal and thats wasted with him on IR now.

I saw it too on NFL Network, but no link.

But I don't get why we didn't just drop him. What's the point of having a player with a 1 year contract on IR? But I bet we will drop him eventually.

Hawkins Released

The Redskins placed cornerback Artrell Hawkins on the reserve/injured list, essentially releasing him in advance of an injury settlement. Vice President Vinny Cerrato said that the two sides have five days to work out a settlement. Hawkins hadn't practiced since the first week of training camp because of a hamstring injury. Before the injury, Hawkins -- who was expected to provide depth and contribute on special teams -- seemed to have an edge in the competition for fourth cornerback.

Hmm. So I guess he really didn't have a huge injury, they just put him on IR so it would be easier to cut him.

But now that I know he wasn't really out for the year, I wish we would have kept him. I mean, how can Artell Hawkins be cut over Ade Jimoh!?! I'd rather Portis play CB than Jimoh!

Are you out of your mind? Portis would make a much better safety.

I think I have an Idea of how we can fix this. To My knowledge Bobby Taylor is still available.

He would be a perfect fit for our system. Big, Physical, Fundamentally sound, and experienced. He would probably comne cheap too. I think this is something we sould look into.

that would work. as long as we can get him fairly cheap, cause he can play safety as well too. Williams would love that.

Well, that sucks, we do need someone else back there.

I think Taylor would be decent, I don't think he'd be a great starting CB anymore but he's big enough to play Safety. I guess I'd really just like to have Taylor and Taylor back there in coverage, that would be cool. You could come up with some really cheesy nickname like T 'n' T or something. :?

...and BTW, everyone knows that Portis is really a speed-rushing DE. I can see him and Lavar lining up as the DEs on third and long... That is a dominating tandem!

he knows the eagles playbook inside and out too, he would help us out there. i think the reason we havent signed him is because he might be too expensive, either that or he has a lingering injury, he is a hell of a player and i don't know why he is still a free agent if not for those two reasons.
Sean, may you always rest in peace and look down on us with the same love that we look up to you.
