I woke up this morning at 5:30 a.m. and left my house at 6:15 a.m.. Me and a buddy rode our Harleys down to camp (125 miles one way), figuring we'd get there some time between 8:30 a.m. and 9:00 a.m.. Boy, were we wrong!
When we got to the Beltway (I495W), it was packed with rush-hour traffic. Stop and go for miles. Frustrating as all hell. Sure, I expected the traffic to be backed up a little...but I (naively) didn't expect it to be THAT bad.
When we finally got off our exit (#45 - VA267) we finally started moving. Then we got to Route 28, we started going north. This is where Mapquest bit me right in the buttocks!
It said go until you get to VA645 West. Well...I rode and rode and rode...nothing. I recalled seeing VA625 10 miles back and I said to my buddy (after pulling over), I bet "that" was the road. We U-turned and, sure enough, it was.
We arrived in training camp at 10:00 a.m., just in time to see 2 plays before practice ended. Then I saw some players sign some autographs.
All was not lost; however, because I (finally) got to meet Bosshog and Taz in person. Also there were Hailskins666 (and Amy), Warmother, Chris Luva Luva, Jake, Skinschic, NC43Hog, and Jansenfan. It was great seeing them and finally meeting a few of them; however, to be candid, I was kinda pissed I wasn't able get there earlier so I would have had the chance to talk with them all longer.
Then....after the long trek home...I plug in my digital camera and, for the first time since owning the thing, it DIDN'T WORK!!! I took several pictures of players signing autographs and we had one great group shot. Nothing.
What a day.
What a day.
Hey, at least I got to meet a bunch of nice folks.
