Jeff Chandler means business. The third-year kicker was the first Redskins player to report to the National Conference Center in Lansdowne, Va., where the team is staying during training camp.
Chandler will be competing with John Hall for the team's place kicking duties this season. Hall is coming off of an injury-plagued 2004 season in which he played in just eight games because of a groinn injury.

Hall was among a handful of players working out at Redskins Park on Saturday.

The first practice of Redskins Training Camp Built by The Home Depot is Monday, Aug. 1, at 4 p.m. ET.

With the comings and goings of players in the last week, there have been a number of jersey changes on the roster.

Veteran wide receiver Kevin Dyson has taken No. 87, previously worn by Rod Gardner. Rookie Carlos Rogers, who has yet to finalize his rookie contract, will wear No. 22.

Linebacker Warrick Holdman will wear No. 58, previously worn by Mike Barrow, and cornerback Artrell Hawkins will wear No. 34, previously worn by Andre Lott.

Other jersey number changes for your training camp roster page: defensive back Omar Stoutmire will wear No. 32 and tight end Billy Baber will wear No. 82.

I really like Chandler. He's more accurate and cheaper than Hall. However I still bet it's Hall's job to lose. But I think if Chandler can add some more power/muscle (by the way: how does a kicker add leg strength, squats?) Chandler could eventually win the job.

EDIT: Now that I think about it, I was hoping that Sean Taylor would be the first to arrive. That would show how committed he is. It will be interesting to see when he shows up...

Leg extensions, squats, and tons of Ab work. A lot of its in the ab's and hips. But above all its technique!

I just think it’s a nice change of pace to have competition @ the kicker position...
Hail to the gibbskins...... ;)

I like Hall, and I don’t think like some people that he’s injury prone....but I just think the only way the skins can be good again is if there is competition for every position

hall looked healthy today. didn't see him kicking, but he was moving and practicing with other special teams drills with no problem or lingering injuries.
