Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

Report: Seahawks might have interest in a trade for Andre Davis Len Pasquarelli of ESPN.com reports the Cleveland Browns have had casual trade discussions with the Seattle Seahawks about a trade involving wide receiver Andre Davis.

The Seahawks have an obvious need at wide receiver since the release of former first round draft choice Koren Robinson. The Seahawks signed two veteran wide receivers in the offseason, Joe Jurevicius and Jerome Pathon. The Seahawks need a deep threat which Davis could provide.
A major hitch in trading Davis is that he is entering the final year of his rookie contract so any team who might trade for him would want to sign him to an extension. His agent Kennard McGuire said there have been no discussions on an extension and that his client would not be adverse to a trade.

That team in Texas consider signing veteran safety

By CLARENCE E. HILL JR.

STAR-TELEGRAM STAFF WRITER

Free-agent safety Damien Robinson worked out for the Cowboys on Thursday for second time this off-season in hopes of landing a contract.
The eight-year NFL veteran, who spent last season on the Seattle Seahawks' injured reserve list, played in high school at Dallas Hillcrest and said he would love to resume his career with the team for which he grew up rooting.
Robinson, who also has worked out for the Buffalo Bills, said the decision is now in the hands of the Cowboys and his agent, James Gould.
The Cowboys have been in the market for a free safety to start opposite strong safety Roy Williams. They signed veteran Izell Reese in June to compete with holdovers Keith Davis and Lynn Scott. They could add Robinson to the mix before training camp starts July 28 or bring him in if Reese, Davis or Scott don't pan out in the preseason.

Birk says he'll play in opener

CHARLEY WALTERS

Vikings Pro Bowl center Matt Birk, who six weeks ago underwent surgery to repair a torn labrum in his right hip, said Thursday he guarantees he will play in the season opener Sept. 11 against Tampa Bay at the Metrodome. Birk will begin running next week.
"I feel great; this right hip will not keep me out of the regular-season opener," said Birk, 28, who has been working out regularly at Winter Park. "That's 100 percent guaranteed. I'm like superhuman. At least that's what I tell myself."

Raiders have not interest in trading Porter

The Oakland Raiders are not interested in trading wide receiver Jerry Porter.

According to Matt Pitzer of USA Today, the rumored Jerry Porter for Terrell Owens trade won’t happen but not because the Eagles won’t trade Owens. The Raiders have no interest in trading Porter in part because of the cap hit they would absorb after giving him a lucrative contract extension during the offseason. The Raiders would entertain a trade for wide receiver Doug Gabriel, who currently is projected to be the Raiders fourth wide receiver.

Agent says Williams' weight up to 215 lbs.

Ricky Williams has gotten his weight up to 215 pounds, but the bigger issue is that Williams and the Dolphins appear headed toward at least one season together, assuming everything goes as planned.
Moreover, the running back likely will get ample opportunity to prove himself after players report to training camp July 24. That's because running back Ronnie Brown, the No. 2 overall pick, probably won't report on time.
Williams' agent, Leigh Steinberg, said Wednesday that Williams is up to 215 as he works out in preparation for camp. Steinberg said he spoke with Williams on Tuesday and that Williams sounded "in good spirits and ready to go" after a year away from the NFL.
