RON HILL

Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

RON HILL

Post by Michaelf382 »

Dan Snyder, Joe Gibbs, Vinny, If you read this. Please consider hiring RON HILL as a general manager. I was wondering what yall on this board think about this guy. I bet he has had dealings with Gibbs considering gibbs was part owner in the falcons, and this guy sounds like he would bring to the front office just what this team could use. He sounds like a true gibbs guy too. No ego, hard working. Heres to hoping we get a GM.
Is there any way that we would hire a GM?? or are their underlying things im not too knowledgable of?

I like Hill. Picking Mike Vick wasn't that tough a decision, IMO, but other picks of his have turned out just as good (Price, Duckett, etc.). That would be sweet if we picked him up - I wonder what Danny boy and Joe's thoughts are about this?

Anything would be better then Viney (what ever his roll his). I think it would be smart on Dan Snyders part to at least take a look at a qualified GM. The more knowledge we can bring in the better off we would be. My only concern is I do not think that a top level GM would come to Washington because he would not have the power and say so that he might get somewhere else. The only way I could see that happening is if Dan puts a lot of money on the table and makes a lot of promisses. It would be nice though.

We do need a GM. Danny is the Gm right now and Joe Gibbs really has no experience.

In our best years we had a general manager.

I would LOVE to get a GM once again have a guy who's in charge of who's coming and have Joe Gibbs be in charge of who's going.

It's not just that it's contract negotiation. I'd be stoked to hear about us getting a GM.

I think that most would agree that we do need a GM just not going to happen this year IMO. These guys (DS, VC & JG) seem to think that they have a "handle on it" and I do not see that changing in 2005. Now at the end of this season and depending on how they feel they are "managing" they may want some changes but right now this is how they (NOT we) want to to do business.

I will also add that Joe will be the first to get DS to bring in a GM if Joe thinks that will help. I just do not see that happening until he gets through this year.

By the way i also like Ron Hill and there are a couple of others who might "fit" here!
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Our front office is set up different than most ... but not all.
It looks something like this:

Dan Snyder: Owner
Joe Gibbs: President of football operations
Vinny Cerrato: Vice president of football operations
Joe Gibbs: Head coach

Bringing in a GM would take away some of Joe's duties and elimanate the need for Vinny. Vinny is really "the Danny's" yes man and sounding board, I don't know if "the Danny" would send him packing or not.

At the present time it seem the normal GM duties are shared between the 3 man group.

You make this sound like a bad thing. Joe Gibbs' job should be coaching football, he ought to have only moderate say in player acquisitions. (He should have a working relationship with the GM who he could make suggestions to.)

Joe Gibbs should have a much larger say in cutting players, but not in their hiring. Not only is it not his strong suit but it's a distraction from his real purpose, not many coaches have the ability to do everything at once.

Vinny would still be an advisor to Dan Snyder but we really need a guy like Ron Hill, a GM is a must IMO.

There are many teams that don't have GMs. Look at last year's Superbowl winners for starters. Joe is the President of Football Operations which means he is the one that hires and fires the GM. The same GM that Gibbs can make sugestions to, but not have as much say about the players he'd coach.
I don't see how this would work.
"the Danny" has a yes man, Gibbs doesn't need one

I nominate myself for the GM job.

Once I am hired, I will not rest a single moment until Joe Gibbs is holding his 4th Vince Lombardi trophy.

i'm not sure i understand what you are saying. Peerless Price has been somewhat of a bomb/dud thusfar in atlanta- they traded a 1st round pick for him and gave him a truckload of cash and he's come nowhere near living up to that.

T.J. Duckett finally actually did much of anything last season, but he was drafted when the falcons had just signed warrick dunn (promising him a certain number of carries, feature-back status) and had absolutely no WRs at all.
