no, he wont play unless ramsey and brunell get hurt, but if ramsey gets hurt I bet Campbell gets in because Brunell will suck so bad

I have watched some of the vids on redskin.com and the coaches like what they see. They talk like this kid can hit a deep route very well.Campell just doesn't have the exprience to start yet.I think if the skins can get a big enough lead in the fourth quarter that they will let him take some snaps.Right now my main hopes are on ramsey to play well this year.

I have a feeling he'll outplay Ramsey and obviously Brunell but I doubt he'll start or even get P/T for that matter

Well, I haven't personally seen him play but he's supposedly impressing the coaching staff. The defensive staff talked about him for half an hour after one of their workouts. That tells me that this guy is someone to get kind of excited about. I just hope he overplays Brunell in pre-season and some how is able to take the back-up role.
Never going to happen, but one can always hope.

Most likely he won't play, but if Ramsey really stinks it up he could--this being the town of the quarterback controversy. It truly is Ramsey's to lose.

Don't forget that old man we have. Brunell is his name. JGibbs is definitely going to make Brunell play before Campbell plays. BUT if Campbell plays VERY well in preseason, then we have a chance to have a capable back-up.

Ahhhh...I hope nothing happens to PRamsey because if we lose him, our season will be toast. Number eight will just throw touchdown passes to the cornerbacks, like he did all season last year.

Exactly. Campbell will play if Ramsey pulls a Brunell.

Remember when Brunell came, basically he was handed the starting job. And then he sucked. So we gave Ramsey a chance. And he did good.

Campbells only chance having an impact, is if we start of like 2-7 and Ramsey is plain out sucking. But that wont happen. :D

Do you really think JGibbs will allow a rookie to play instead of a veteran? You know how he likes those veterans. I hope Campbell will play if a back-up is needed, but I don't see JGibbs "dis-respecting" MBrunell by making a rookie play over him. Want to see that happen, but don't see it. Don't see it at ALL!!

I know this is contrary to the majority sentiment on this site but I have a feeling that Brunell will push Ramsey this year in preseason. Although I think Patrick will retain the starting job. Brunell was/is too much of a pro to let last year happen again. Call it a hunch but I think we will have a very capable backup in Brunell this year.

Well, we clearly saw that he was definitely NOT capable last year. But, if for some reason he improves his play on the field, that's always good. He'll create more competition and PRamsey will be pressured to play better.

I don't agree with your "hunch" but if it comes true (which I highly doubt) it's all good!

All hes gonna be doing is carrying a clip board around for 2 years, unless Ramsey stinks it up, but then Gibbs would give Brunell a try and finally Cambell

Campbell is not going to get the chance to play next season. You know why? Ramsey is a tough cookie. He doesn't get injured easily, plus we've upgraded our O-line (don't forget we have CRabach and JJanson).
If he DOES get injured, Brunell will be the back-up. The fans can boo all they want but I don't think JGibbs is going to let Campbell get a chance to play unless BOTH of the QBs get injured. Now that's highly unlikely.

But if you ask me, if Ramsey gets injured, I hope Brunell gets injured the next week. (Sorry, but I can't bear another performance of the Brunell we saw in '04-'05)

I think campbell presence can be described in one word INSURANCE!!!

Ramsey's contract ends shortly(2006 i believe) if he has a Pro Bowl Season this year and next( as everyone hopes) WILL THE REDSKINS HAVE THE CAP SPACE TO RESIGN HIM!!!! or will they be outbid for his services as they were for Pierce and Smoot.
If Ramsey does remain with the team the redskins still have a young quality backup. If he leaves then they have a YOUNG, STRONG ARMED, 1ST ROUND DRAFT PICK WITH TWO YEARS EXPERIANCE IN GIBBS SYSTEM TO REPLACE HIM( Rember Rypen held a clipboard for three years before he started)

I know we had other needs this year but ask yourself what would you rather see in two years a great young quaterback (Campbell)throwing to a good wide reciever(Moss, Patten) or a terrible old quaterback( Brunell or whoever they can scrape up to replace the departed ramsey) throwing to a great reciever( Williams)

You know what, after your post (talon) it all makes sense to me. Maybe JGibbs was thinking about what you're saying during the draft. Maybe he was aware that if Ramsey did well (he definitely should do well) we MIGHT not have a chance to keep him. So, instead of having Brunell, we'd have a young, fresh player who has two years of mental preparation.
Good post, I think I can finally be completely satisfied with the draft now. If that's the reason why JGibbs picked a QB instead of something else, he made a wise move. A really smart move.
I don't know if you guys thought about this before, but it makes sense. Don't ya think?

They drafted him this year to allow him to learn and develop
and replace Brunell.

And POTENTIALLY replace PRamsey. I don't know why we're rolling our eyes, but I think we'll learn that this was a pretty smart move in a couple of years.

No, it isn't good for Brunell to pressure Ramsey. The youngkid seems to crumble under pressure situations. I hope Ramsey plays the whole year, so the team can evaluate his performance, and finally give him either the heave-ho or the contract extension many of you seem to think he's earned.

I can't wait to see Brunell earn Comeback Player of the Year Awards in 2006-2007. My 2 cents
Back and better than ever!

If he is not able to handle pressure situations, how do you expect him to succed in the NFL as a quarterback then? I mean, if you can't handle it, your're definitely not going to be successful.
PRamsey has to be able to handle a little of QB competition! During the season, that shoule be the LEAST thing he is worried about.
The position of quarterback tests your abilites in pressure situations.
Again, if he can't handle a little competition, how do you expect him to do well in the NFL at all?
