Kevin Hardy Released.....?
LB Kevin Hardy was released from the Bengals yesterday. Should we consider picking him up, e would be cheap, may be we could sign to the veteran minimum and see how he does in training camp...
He had 69 tackles last year and 91 the year before, obviously he's not done...he is a proven veteran and he would be a great locker room boost..

We don't need any more big names. We have quite a few LB's on the team already after this position. I say we pass.

I think you're confusing quantity with quality...
I remember when we had quite a few QB's on the team (Matthews, Wuerffel, and young Ramsey and we sure weren't set at QB.
Just because we have a lot of MLB's doesn't mean we have a lot of GOOD MLB's.

At this point, I don't think Kevin Hardy really qualifies as quality either. He's clearly lost two steps, and 69 tackles for a middle linebacker is far from impressive.
If he is cheap (veteran minimum) then it's worth a try, but otherwise we could be looking at Michael Barrow part duex.
I'm bored, I'm broke, and I'm back.

he played outside linebacker in Cincy and in addition to his 69 tackles he got 4 sacks
He's played some middle linebacker before and he's still got great speed, but he's had problems because he's too tall. Perhaps he could be converted to DE or Williams could work on him and make him a decent MLB.

Man! What does it say about this team that anytime a player with the most remote amount of name recognition is released, somebody inevitably pops up and wonders if the Redskins might pick him up?
I'm not knocking you btw, spudstr04. Its really a legitimate question you're asking.

Bengals part ways with LB Hardy
NFL.com wire reports
CINCINNATI (May 3, 2005) -- The Cincinnati Bengals terminated the contract of linebacker Kevin Hardy.
Hardy spent two of his nine NFL seasons with the Bengals. He led the team in tackles with 124 in 2003, and started 14 games last season.
"Kevin's leadership abilities and his professionalism have been a huge asset to me and our football team, and this was a difficult decision to make," head coach Marvin Lewis said. "However, for Kevin's ability to gain an opportunity with another team, this is the best timing."
The Bengals have loaded up on linebackers in the past two drafts, and used their first two picks this year on Georgia teammates David Pollack and Odell Thurman.
Hardy was Jacksonville's first-round pick in 1996 and spent six years with the Jaguars. He was with Dallas in 2002, and signed with the Bengals as an unrestricted free agent in 2003.
He had his best season in 1998, when he was credited with 100 solo tackles and 89 assists.

"I was on the sideline and guys were talking about the score, and then it hit me -- we won by 21. I came in the locker room and I yelled it out, and immediately I just kind of broke down in tears. Because I miss Sean, you know."
