RIGGO'S RANGERS QUESTION

Post by Riggoman »

I was cleaning up around the house and just found a vintage camo Riggo's Rangers hat. I'm trying to remember when Riggo's Rangers was first used. It has to be after Gibb's got him back in 1981 or after the Superbowl win in 1983. Does anyone know the answer, because it's not on the internet.

Thanks,
Riggoman

I think it must have been after the Super Bowl in 1983, I dont see any mention of Riggo's Rangers in any of my publications until 1984.. But I might be overlooking it :hmm: Thats a very good question..

Wasn't it about the time he passed out at a party with Sandra Day O'Connor?

He Redskindave ever heard of this player from Ohio that is coming in this weekend?

Ryan McClellan, OL, 6-6, 320, Mansfield

I assume that the College is in Mansfield Ohio. We have a couple of Kent State'rs coming in also.

I was and am a Riggins fan, but still its amusing to watch you young guys who didn't really know him build him up to mythic proportions. The truth is that he was an above average back running behind a terrific OL. He wasn't a great back. He didn't have much in the way of moves, but did have great speed for his size, great stamina. Unfortunately, he ran too upright and stiffly to be considered a world beater. He was a big part of the reason the Skin won some big games but was not a consistent difference maker. For much of his career, in fact, he was a frustrating underachiever who would have a good game every once in a while and then be a non factor for a month. Check the stats.

Thanks for setting the record straight on Riggo - he had me, and a lot of other people fooled. Thank goodness the HOF voters didn't make him a first-year-eligible inductee...

what riggo did great was wearing out a defense. I cant tell u how many plays a game his 2 and three yard runs ended with his plowing into anything in his path.

You're absolutely right about that. The guy had incredible stamina. He never seemed to get tired-- his number 1 asset. I should have included that in my evaluation.
