Its cool. I hope we get that guy too! 11+ sacks every year since his Soph. year! He's a little small, I prefer Big D-Linemen, but after the Colts two DE's last year...i'm changing my tune!

Who is Bill Swancutt? ... So what does a college football star playing in the Pacific Northwest have to do to get some love? Forgetting the geographic location making Oregon State a bit off the beaten path when it comes to where the national media focuses its attention, it's a bit hard for a Beaver defensive player to stand out even when the team is being watched. OSU is known for its high-octane offense with RB Steven Jackson and, for good and bad, QB Derek Anderson getting all the pub last year. That should change this season for Oregon State senior DE Bill Swancutt.

In 2002, Swancutt's 11.5 sack season was missed by almost everyone outside of Corvallis because Arizona State's Terrell Suggs was making national news almost every week. Last year, Swancutt's pass rushing abilities and productive year were overshadowed by the splashier seasons by UCLA's Dave Ball and and USC's Kenechi Udeze. This will be the season that it all changes as Swancutt, along with Oregon's Devan Long, should get all the glory as the Pac 10's most feared pass rushers.

More importantly, it'll be up to Swancutt to be the leader of a defense good enough challenge USC as the best in the Pac 10. While the Trojans and the Wild Bunch II defensive line were the toast of college football last year, Oregon State led the Pac 10 in total defense and was second behind the Trojans against the run. DT Dwan Edwards and LB Richard Siegler had a lot to do with that, but Swancutt deserves credit as well for being the team's most disruptive force.

A playmaker from day one, Swancutt went from coming to Corvallis as a fourth-string lineman to quickly becoming an indispensable player finishing his true freshman season with three sacks. By the beginning of 2002, Swancutt was a starter on the right side and ripped through offenses becoming an All-Conference caliber player by the end of the season. Last year, he demanded attention on every play helping to free up the rest of the Beaver playmakers to form its stingy defense..

With 25.5 career sacks and 41.5 career tackles for loss, Swancutt is an established star. Now the rest of the college football world will finally know as well.

Swancutt's best game so far was ... against Arizona in 2002. While he had some big performances last year, the 38-3 win over the Wildcats in his sophomore season marked his breakout game with four tackles and three sacks disrupting everything Arizona tried to do. He finished up 2002 with a tremendous performance in the 45-24 Civil War win over Oregon making seven tackles, two sacks and 2.5 tackles for loss..

Why you should care about Bill Swancutt ... There's a chance he could become the Pac 10's best defensive player this year. He'll have a fight on his hands for the honor with players like USC DT Shaun Cody and Washington State LB Will Derting, but he could make a leap up in his overall game and crank out a 15+ sack season that gets him on most All-America teams and pushes him into the first round of the 2005 NFL Draft.

Positives about Swancutt ... Extremely quick with good size, he's not just a beefed up college linebacker; he's a true defensive end who can handle a few more pounds and not be too bulked up. He's a smart player both on and off the field rarely getting caught out of position. A fiery and emotional player, he can turn around the momentum of a game with a big play and tends to feed off emotion and the big moment. Along with all the intangibles, he has decent strength, a fantastic motor and the complete package of athletic skills.

Negatives about Swancutt ... As good as Swancutt has been, this will be his first season as the main man. OSU has had several good, NFL caliber players around him to take some of the attention away, but now every opponents' offensive game plan will revolve around keeping him out of the backfield. Is he going to be up to the task? Probably, but he'll have to crank his game up a few notches.

More Info on this guy. I feel like he would be a steal.

Bill Swancutt IS SLOWWWWWW. I believe he ran in the 5.0 forty range. What we need is pass rushers which Swancutt won't be able to become on the pro level. I want Jerome Mathis. I think he's a better, more hard working version of Santana Moss. When Moss' payday comes up I dont wanna give him a big contract and I think Mathis can be better. If not Jerome Mathis then definitely DE Jovan Haye(good pass rusher) or Fred Gibson from Georgia. But what just happened? did we trade our pick to MinnY?

Edit: We trade pick 112 for picks 120 and 154. Nice deal for the Skins. We need all the extra picks we can get. Damn the chargers just took my man Jerome Mathis. Hopefully Fred Gibson the wideout from Georgia can fall to us at pick 120

I don't see the reason to get a FB. We have okay blockers for CPortis already!
We should've gotten a O-line or D-line player!!!!!!!
