HOGS Poster

Post by dh29 »

I have been looking for a poster dedicated to the HOGS all day and I cannot find one. I am an autograph collector and would like to meet them all so that may sign a poster, but again I cannot find one on the Internet anywhere...and suggestions? If so e-mail me at dh29@msn.com. Thanks. The 'Hogs Night Out' poster (I presume the one you're talking about) is no longer produced i don't believe, so hit and miss on ebay is the only place you will likely find one...

I hate to verge on doing a commercial, but I know the folks who run Sports Card Heroes in Laurel, MD and they just had George Starke in for a signing. I am not affiliated with them, and do not make any money from things they sell. That being said, I'm fairly certain they offer the "Hogs Night Out" poster, fully autographed. I know the guys who own the place well enough to vouch for authenticity. Their website is SportsCardHeroes.com.

Good luck.

They don't have it I don't think Chili... i did check there. They had it when they had Starke in for a signing, yes, but that's likely because George told me that he still had some of the posters in his basement.

But he could definitely give them a call and find out.

My 2 cents

Incidentally, when I had the pleasure of interviewing Mr. Starke at he ken harvey Classic... he informed me that the hogs actually produced a much lesser 'known' poster hat is even harder to find. it was called Graveyard Hogs and it had all the hogs standing around a grave lowering a Cowboys casket into a hole. The headstones in the background had Eagles, Giants and Cardinals (their other division rivals at the time) on them. i've never seen the poster but if anyone ever sees it up for auction at ebay, let me know!

Just find some one to make you a custom picture then make it into a poster that will be easy.

Yes, but...would you rather have an actual Cal Ripken Jr. rookie card, or a reproduction ?
I think that would be the point, in BossHog's case. The authentic poster would be a find, indeed. The reproduction, BH could do himself.

Again, not a commercial, but do you guys (the collectors anyway) have the large poster that you've probably seen around, of the all-time great Redskins? It's a poster from hand drawn pictures of 43 of the all-time greats. I saw quite a few of them at the Ken Harvey classic, in fact I see them around a lot. I ask because I drew the pictures and created the poster. At the time, I couldn't find anything like it, so I decided I would just create my own.

I'd love to see it Chili... if you're not against it, just send a copy to me at bosshog@thehogs.net.

Is it like the lithographs?

As for reproducing it TC... you just can't get a poster-sized picture out of any web photos usually... the net uses a much lower resolution than print does and pictures just come out looking like pixellated blocks. i can photoshop a lot of things back into 'shape' but it's pretty much impossible to get an 8x10 out of a web photo... let alone a poster sized representation.

My 2 cents

I actually picked up one of those posters at the Starke/May signing in Laurel. Here's the deal. Mark owns the copyright to it and he's the only one you can get one from. He brought a couple dozen to the signing and they are autographed by all 8 guys. The owner of the store told me that if I could find the poster unsigned, it would be logistically difficult and expensive to track all the guys down, mail the poster away, pay the signing fee, etc. than the $119 it cost to pick up the poster pre-signed. It took a bit of the fun away, but I've got it and it's a poster I've wanted for 20 years. Anyway, I'd call that shop and see if they can track one down for you. I scanned what would fit and put it up on my site, if you'd like to see what it looks like.

And I love thehogs.net guys! I've been lurking for a while and this is my first post. My daughter learned the words to the fight song using your flash "bouncing ball" version, so you are to be congratulated...she's only just three after all!

Thanks again!

Welcome to theHogs.net! Hope you enjoy checking things out.

Please note that we do not allow links in signatures. As such, your link has been removed from your signature. We don't have many rules here -- but that is one of them. You can find the rules in the Site News/Welcome Wagon forum.

Thanks!

Coool poster by the way -- awesome signed! I like how Grimm signed by the Hog!

Thanks guys for the suggestions. I actually have one of those posters you all talk about. I am almost done. I am actually meeting Wilbur Marshall in June at a CSA show in Richmond (www.csashows.com). I know Rodney and Rick very well too. I have assisted them at least on one occasion at shows they attend such as the CSA shows. I am greatful for the useful information...wonder if you all knew one more thing. I am looking for a 8x10 or larger of the hit Lavar put on Trpy Aikman a few years ago. Lavar is also appearing in the area son and I would love to get him to sign it. I will check back in a week or so. Hope we get a good draft pick this year. No more old washed up quarterbacks huh!
