Here comes the snow and what bad timing.
Tomorrow is supposed to be Jackson's first day of school. We have him prepared. And now they say we may get 10 inches of snow tomorrow. What horrible timing. I am due to start my job on Tuesday so that's sort of up in the air as well. I am not quite sure our fate because not one local forecaster we've found will solidly give an esitmate. They say "it could change by the hour." Good gosh bad bad timing.

Yep, I know what ya mean Niki....I'm at work (30 miles away from home) waiting for it to get ugly and then will leave and drive home with the idiots that don't know how to drive in it. One radio station says 4-6 inches and another says up to 12 inches. Everyone be careful. We've not had very much snow this year but I'm sick of it already ! Wouldn't mind if it were a weekend where we didn't have to leave the house and could light a nice fire in the fireplace and sit back and relax and eat all weekend long....but hate having to go to work in it.
Jake was happy when I told him not to get up cause schools are closed !

Closing schools based on "forecasts" is ridiculous.
Our's are closed yet it's 11 am and still not snowing.
If one argues that they should close for "the safety of the children", shouldn't the parents then decide what's in their child's best interests safety wise instead of school officials and busing companies who seem more concerned with potential liability than safety.

My wife hasn't been to work since last wednesday (she's a teacher). The snow barely stuck to the roads downtown each day but they closed them anyways. Back in my day, I had to trek through the snow barefoot backwards uphill... OK, I'm only 30 so maybe not but this is getting out of hand. They jump the gun way too early now a days.
The opinion of 10,000 men is of no value if none of them know anything about the subject.

Well out here is it finally coming down with good force. Jackson's school closed at 3pm. So his first day was cut short. He loved it though. I was told he ran circles around all the other little boys on the playground. And that he was trying to eat the snow. So he amused them. lol
When Scott and I dropped him off he said "See ya mom and day" and didn't look back. No tears, no worries. He just jumped right in and loved every second of it. It helps me feel better about going back to work. I would love to tell everyone that no tears were shed today but I'm be lying! Jackson didn't cry at all though!
I hope you are home safe Terry and not out there fighting those idiots. I remember driving in that area when it snowed, not fun.

My job is all about the weather. I love snow.
What I don't love is the people that think it's a really good plan to try and pass the salt spreader before there's any material on the ground to give them a little traction.

I'm not kidding. I've been doing this for 14 years now. I've been hit 10 times. Eight times, it was a passing vehicle. (Two of those were tractor-trailers, one of the two was a tandem). The two remaining times ? One was my own co-worker, in another spreader, who was supposed to be just behind me, throwing the snow I threw to him off the road, and the other was a spin out SUV. A Lincoln Navigator.
The driver of the SUV was ejected and killed.
It's not a game, you know.

I wouldn't get to leave my house 1/3 of the year if it were like that up here.
Boss, you'd probably be scared out of your wits driving south of the Mason-Dixon line with even a dusting. I know I am.
Very little road maintenence equipment and inexperienced winter drivers. Scary combination.
I'd rather do 65 on I-79 through a Buffalo lake effect blizzard than jump on the Beltway with 2 snowflakes in the air.
