Colts sign backup RB Rhodes to 2-year contract

Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

Colts sign backup RB Rhodes to 2-year contract

"Tagging" Edgerrin James was one of two moves made Tuesday by the Indianapolis Colts.

The team also reached agreement with backup running back Dominic Rhodes on a two-year, $4.75 million contract that includes a $2 million signing bonus.

"Dominic is thrilled to be back with this organization," said Mike McCartney, Rhodes' agent.

Minus a new deal, Rhodes would have been an unrestricted free agent March 2. He has served as James' backup since joining the team as an undrafted free agent in 2001.

Decision on camp nears

The team is close to finalizing arrangements for training camp, although team president Bill Polian declined to specify where camp will be held in July.

"I'd say we're 80 percent down the road," he said.

Speculation has focused on a return to Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Ind., which has hosted training camp the past six summers, and St. Joseph's College in Rensselaer. Officials from each school repeatedly have declined comment on the possibility of the Colts holding training camp at their facility.

Etc.

Polian said no decision has been made on tight end Marcus Pollard and place-kicker Mike Vanderjagt, who might be released in cost-cutting moves.
